Re: mint 16 slow

You are not alone sadly and its not necessarily a hardware issue, i have a higher spec system then you and it's lags on mine too wheras Mint 15 didnt, i use Cinnamon so it may be a Cinnamon thing or the new login screen or even video drivers but as you said Mint 15 booted and ran very quick, Mint 16...

Re: ASUS officially don't support linux

Add me to the list tho my issue only arose once i upgraded the Bios on my Asus p9X79 Pro Pro mobo to the latest 2 Bios's to fully support the i7-4820K. i also have a GTX-780Ti and with that combo i can't boot any live CD without issues if at all. Manjaro fails to boot, Mint fails to validate graphic...

Re: GTX 780Ti + Linux

Thanx you two, you were both correct. It was basically just the display manager throwing a hissy fit during install. I had tried the way i said minus stopping the display manager, that didn't work obviously i tried it again with stopping the display manager and it princess about missing components a...

GTX 780Ti + Linux

OK so this has probably already been covered in the X-Server failed to start threads altho that particular fix doesn't help, only makes it worse to the point of no DE instead of just Software rendered mode. Not a newbie to Linux but definately a newbie to NVidia+Linux, havent ever used a NVidia card...

Re: Cinnimon 2.0.7 LMDE

Cinnamon 2.04 is sweet, changed to some developmental repo's and updated via backports and unstable Mint 15 to what would be the Mint 16 currently in testing, so if LMDE with Cinnamon 2.08 is anything like that it's gonna be a good update. nothing bad in the upgrades to Cinnamon only good and curren...

Re: Donation via PayPal?

Paypal has never steered me wrong in fact they stepped upto the plate for me when i was frauded by someone, they took legal action on my behalf and i got my stolen money back and a credit. each to there own. I prefer Paypal whenever possible, it's fairly anonymous and unless you are stupid enough to...

Re: Linux Mint Olivia 15 - ATI Drivers+Cinnamon = Crash!

Hmm that sucks i have a 6990 and installed the Mint 15 RC b4 it was available to Distrowatch and installed the latest non beta ATI driver using the new driver manager and had no issues with drivers+cinnamon, infact it worked more or less better then in 14 barring the taskbar plays up and you can't s...

Re: So what about Linux Mint 15 KDE?

I downloaded the RC which was cinnamon and all was well, i just for kicks added KDE and XFCE from the repo's and it seems to have added a debian themed version of both :)
But they both work more or less so the Mint themed edition should end up being alot smoother.

Re: Can't format after using USB Image writer,USB sticks bri

I had a similar issue and found an alternative workaround. I had a USB stick that would keep coming up as a CD device with 2 partition tables and was mountable but errored everytime that Windows had used it and had not removed it cleanly which was bogus it was locked in Gparted and couldn't and in w...

Re: Steam Linux Beta - who's signed up for it?

Thanx for the response and yes thats the page i was on and got all that info, doing the dpkg via terminal results in sudo dpkg -i steam.deb && sudo apt-get install -f dpkg: error processing steam.deb (--install): package architecture (i386) does not match system (amd64) but seems i end up answering ...

i have the additional needed 32bit libraries just can;t install the client to start with, but that's running Mint 14.1 if that makes any difference

Re: Whats exacly the diffrence between Mint KDE and Kubuntu.

well from the perspective of a person who doesn't really get KDE i can say Mint KDE is far more stable then Kubuntu or the new Netrunner, i've tried those and KDE bugs every session, so far not a single crash in Mint 13 KDE in 2 days, as for the other differences well looks and feels exactly the sam...

OK this isn't specifically related to Linux Mint or any of the other distro's here, this is a Linux in general query, if it's in the wrong section i appologize Bare with me this may make absolutely no sense :_) and i can't take a screen shot via outide means atm and since this error is not technical...

Re: problem with ati graphic card Linux Mint 12

Nothing to do with Mint, it's the same with any distro using ATI accelerated drivers and gnome. They are hit and miss.
KDE and other non Gnome desktops don't seem to suffer from the same issues though it does still happen

Re: Linux Mint 12 Release Candidate

um yes i have and i know what i'm looking at. Ubuntu has an App store like one which is alot more appealing, Mint's works don't get me wrong and for along time it was better then the others.
Sounds like you haven't actually looked at the newest ones.

Re: Linux Mint 12 Release Candidate

looks and feels great, but can't run the standard Gnome setup, the fonts stuff up and the graphics on the top/bottom/menu bar's are very glitchy and keep unloading. thats with HD 6990 and the RC supplied drivers. From the little i can do with the new Gnome i definately prefer that to Ubuntu's spin. ...
