Re: Guest account cannot open flatpaks from cinnamon menu
I have a similar problem on LinuxMint 21.1 Xfce: I can't open any Flatpak program from the menu or the terminal while in the Guest account. I can see the list as expected: $ flatpak list But I get an error when trying to open a program: $ flatpak run org.libreoffice.LibreOffice bwrap: Can't read /pr...

Re: What is the most efficient way for LM to receive donations
Patreon is very convenient. I support a few other projects through it and so I wish that they'd offer lower monthly donations. Right now, the choices are only $5 and $20 / month so I keep having to turn it on and off to reach my yearly target.

There it is, the new Device Driver Manager is included in LMDE 201303 http://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=2346 and can be installed on other up-to-date LMDE systems with:
Code: Select all
sudo aptitude install ddm

Re: UPDATE PACK 5 FEEDBACK THREAD
It is possible that you're affected by this: Support of R600 and R700 chips (Radeon HD 2000/3000/4000 series) was dropped at fglrx-driver 1:12-6~beta-1.( changelog ). The latter are helped with the now separate package fglrx-legacy-driver . Unsupported chips are supported by the "radeon" ...

I can see fglrx 12.6 in repository already! You're really fast :) Thank you! Oops... Not working for me. I'm stuck in CLI mode now. Hear Hear! My latest partition satisfies my need for a stable, primary system, while my incoming partition satisfies my curiosity and desire to tinker, play, and break things. @sobrus
I had the same problem with the fglrx drivers. The problem seems to be on the ATI's end of things. See page 5 of this thread for more info: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.p ... 80#p617784

Re: linux mint dist upgrade (12 to 13) problem
Same with LMDE. For me, what worked was:
Code: Select all
sudo aptitude remove mint-search-addon mint-meta-common
sudo aptitude install mint-search-addon mint-meta-common

Re: UPDATE PACK 5 FEEDBACK THREAD
It took me a bit of time to report back, but there it is... By-the-way, if this post doesn't belongs in this thread, please feel free to move it somewhere else. As I mentioned previously, the ATI drivers ( fglrx-control and fglrx-driver ) work with UP4's xserver-xorg-core 2:1.11.4-1 but not with UP5...

Re: UPDATE PACK 5 FEEDBACK THREAD
First, thanks to everybody for helping out with LMDE. At home, we run latest on our two computers, but we also have incoming running on one partition so as to get ready for potential problems before they hit our main computers. Here is one (which is not LMDE's fault, but which I need to figure out a...

Re: Canon MF4570dn - can't get to work
It seems there's a problem with python-cups I installed python-cups_1.9.61-0.1 from http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=656640#58 and it solved the error message but not the non-printing problem. I followed the instructions from https://phpraxis.wordpress.com/2012/07/08/install-canon-mf...

From http://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=2097 : Development started on Linux Mint 14. Re: [Known upstream bug] LMDE UP4: Printer properties error
It seems that the problem is actually with python-cups , not with system-config-printer . I installed python-cups_1.9.61-0.1 from http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=656640#58 and it solved the error message but not the non-printing problem. Re: Canon MF4570dn - can't get to work
@pdc_2 First, thanks for helping out! Second, the UFRII/UFRII LT Printer Driver for Linux v2.20 driver from the link you provided still doesn't contain 64-bit deb files. It has: 32-bit_Driver/ * Debian/ - cndrvcups-common_2.20-1_i386.deb - cndrvcups-ufr2-uk_2.20-1_i386.deb * RPM/ - cndrvcups-common-...

Re: Canon MF4570dn - can't get to work
Exact same here. Except, that my set up used to work under Linux Mint 12 with the exact same steps... But in Linux Mint 13: * The drivers install fine * The printer installs fine * But when I print, nothing prints even though the computer says that it sent the file successfully. I'm thinking of reve...
