SOLVED - Re-install having partition trouble

Good news to relay this morning, I closed down with my FAT32 partition not displaying in the Mint File Manager. This morning it is there and the HTML files work just as I am accustomed to having them work. I could not be much happier. Perhaps things just needed to 'sit and cure' overnight. Very glad...

Re: Need to re-install my Mint, a question or two, OK?

See the HREF for the "Next" anchor in your code below? The MHC00001.HTM file needs to reside where the index file is located. Thank you for the tip CKC but there are over 1,000 pages that would need multiple changes. As I said it works in Krusader so I will use Krusader for running it. I ...

Just a small note. The next time you forget exactly what you typed on the command line you could run this.

Code: Select all

tail -n 60 ~/.bash_history | less
Thanks sgtor,

I will save those commands in Tomboy. Good to have on hand for 'what if's.'

Janice

Re: Re-install having partition trouble

Whatever you did with the image is not any help :? But, from the new partition UUID's, it appears that you have 18.2 installed. Is there still some sort of problem :?: Using a FREE Photobucket account. Had to allow ads to run and it took forever to get the file loaded, then I had to resize it and g...

Re: Re-install having partition trouble

WarfRat, but since you have a gap between sda1 and sda5 I'm guessing that you have an MBR partition. If you're mint system is booting and running enter mount|grep sda to see what partitions are mounted where. Also provide a gparted screenshot. Since I posed that data I reloaded the PC. Running Mint ...

Re: Need to re-install my Mint, a question or two, OK?

Dear CKC, "There should be no problem using a hyphen in the name. Even Windows and macOS allow that." I know that but never the less I was here and it kept giving me a 'warning' in a bright pink window that said spelled out what was NOT allowed, and hyphen was named specifically. I tried u...

Re: Need to re-install my Mint, a question or two, OK?

That sounds like the HTML code has something hard-coded? The file system should have zero effect on the operation of an HTML file. I would think it should just work. Does that Windows partition on SDA6 use the name "C:" in any way? Obviously not in Mint. Check your HTML code and see if th...

Re: Need to re-install my Mint, a question or two, OK?

Feel free to ignore this but during the installation you might want to change the default Computer name to something more manageable like janice-hp. It could save you some work in the future if you share files over a local network. MrEen, Thank you, I followed your advice. Had a little difficulty d...

Re: Need to re-install my Mint, a question or two, OK?

MintBean, Bingo that's what I needed. Only problem, I changed the setting on one of the one's I shouldn't have. No problem. I wanted to install 18.2. I had put 17 back in thinking that might help with the drive issues. Now that I know about how to make them display I am so happy I would gladly reloa...

Re: Need to re-install my Mint, a question or two, OK?

Still floundering around. Very grateful I transferred all my files to another computer, at least I reas in the thought that some day I will be able to get back to 'normal.' Re: Need to re-install my Mint, a question or two, OK?

Hello MintBean, "The disc format really shouldn't make any difference to how an HTML page loads. How did you even discover this in the first place? Are you using Windows software with this disc?" It was many years ago that I found out about the Fat32 and how html files within Mint behave t...

Re-install having partition trouble

Hello, Have a 500 Gig Hard Drive. I messed up my installation of Mint 17 and thought it would be simple to just reinstall. I decided to go ahead and upgrade to 18.2. It has been about 4 years since I installed 17 and my brain seems to have formatted over my ability to do this. The problem is I want ...

Re: Need to re-install my Mint, a question or two, OK?

Good morning, Jerry . When double clicked in file manager (while in a Fat32 partition) the HTML file opens as a separate browser page and operates as it would normally. You can click 'next page' and it immediately switches. It is very useful and necessary if you manage web sites with multiple pages....

My partitions, can this be fixed?

http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee89/janice21475/my%20partitions_1.jpg I need Linux-Swap, FAT32, EXT4 Home & Storage Looking at my partition job in Gparted I think one of the problems is that I did not have flags on all of the partitions. Is that fixable now or do I have to redo? Or, is ther...
