Re: Poll: Desktop environments

I have tried several times Unity, Gnome Shell and KDE and I have to say that I don't get any of them. Can somebody please explain me two things: 1) Why on earth, why ohhh why, is a taskbar so bad for these two desktops (unity and gnome shelll)? Many of Unity's "improvements", were make the launcher ...

Re: Has anyone tried Cinnamon yet?

I've used cinnamonf for a while, but had some issues with it. - Pidgin icon sometimes become invisible. - Menu load is realy slow (I had an i7 Quad Core!), comparing with old gnome menu (Alt-F1 shows instantly), it takes too long to show (Above one second), I still prefer the good old Gnome-do.

Re: Rename files recursively

Assuming your directories names does not contains spaces, you could use these: START_DIR=$PWD; for DIR in `find -type d`; do cd $DIR; echo "current_dir for rename $PWD"; find -maxdepth 1 -type f -name "*.mp3" -print0 | xargs -0 rename -v 's/.+\-//'; cd $START_DIR; echo "current_dir $PWD"; done Here ...

Yes, I had only one Pidgin icon in "alacarte". With these post I did solve it.

Re: Disable duplicate menu entries in Gnome Shell

These worked for me, thank you.
For the records, I'm not using MATE.

Re: [SOLVED] Bug mint 12,old icons display in menu, ugly & do

I have the same problem as Nippon, and followed the guide bimsebasse pointed, but if I remove Pidgin with alacarte, the ugly icon stays in the gnome 3 menu and there's no Pidgin in "Internet" Group of the MSGE's menu. :(

Re: Linux Mint 12 USB ISO Does Not Boot.

Did you try to boot with the same USB on another computer? To rule out that is a hardware issue, or the program you're using to make the bootable USB. My coworker had the same issue, and I loaned the USB I made, on Mint 11, and he could start the live session, writting "live" at boot prompt.

Re: How to keep Conky's from disappearing on Super-D in LM12

I had a similar behaviour, clicking on the desktop, when nautilus was there, made conky dissapear. Using some of greerd's conf lines (own_window*), I have my conky running, but stills goes away with Super-D, it stays with the button "Show desktop" though. Removing the file manager from the desktop, ...
