If the above doesn't help, you can disable the power saving with this command followed by a reboot:

Code: Select all

sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/snd-hda-intel.conf <<<'options snd-hda-intel power_save=0'
Does that work with HDMI out of AMD graphics card?

Re: Mint 20 AMD R9 Fury card crackling sound

Which kernel were you using in LM19 that you were not getting this noise? The latest kernel since I update a lot. I use mainline to update the kernel. And was that LM19 install working well with your equipment? It was. I'm thinking it has something to do with the power saving feature for the audio ...

Mint 20 AMD R9 Fury card crackling sound

Since I upgraded to Mint 20 Cinnamon I get crackling or buzzing sound out of my F9 Fury HDMI when I have too many applications running. I have to shut off some applications until the sound from like a YouTube video stops crackling. My CPU is a Ryzen 7 1700. Anyone know how to fix this problem?

How to Enable Gallium Nine for D3D9 support

This is a guide for anyone looking to install Gallium Nine for faster Direct3D 9 performance for older games. This is useful for people who are using older graphic cards that don't have Vulkan support as DXVK can now do D3D9 through D9VK. Graphic cards like the Radeon HD 5000 and 6000 series would b...

Re: need export LD_LIBRARY_PATH for .desktop shortcut

I solved the problem. I realized that I had updated the PPA from QT5.12 to 5.12.3 to 5.12.6. Doing an "apt remove qt512-meta-full" does not remove the /opt/qt512 folder. So it was just overwriting files when I updated QT. I had to do a ppa purge "sudo ppa-purge -d bionic ppa:beineri/opt-qt-5.12.3-bi...

After entering in export QT_DEBUG_PLUGINS=1 I reran VLC and got this. Well, the part that's the error. Re: need export LD_LIBRARY_PATH for .desktop shortcut

If that issue has anything to do with this thread then you are still sourcing that qt512-env.sh from some place. If its gone from /etc/profile.d than its not from there, and you will have to retrace you steps to see what it is you did. The error changes when I remove the qt512-env.sh, so I don't th...

Re: need export LD_LIBRARY_PATH for .desktop shortcut

Simply remove the file from /etc/profile.d again and make sure to reboot or at least logout and back in, then use Karlchen's method to set the required variable specifically for yuzu. I removed the file from /etc/profile.d long ago and Karlchen's method still works for Yuzu but now VLC and Dolphin ...

Re: need export LD_LIBRARY_PATH for .desktop shortcut

Here's the error once I removed qt512-env.sh. VLC isn't the only application effected by this it seems. main libvlc: Running vlc with the default interface. Use 'cvlc' to use vlc without interface. qt.qpa.plugin: Could not load the Qt platform plugin "xcb" in "" even though it was found. This applic...

Re: need export LD_LIBRARY_PATH for .desktop shortcut

Just noticed that I can't run VLC anymore and I get this error when I run it in terminal. This QT crap is really pissing me off. Also I put qt512-env.sh in /etc/profile.d/ with no change. At this point I'm OK with putting in that command that @karlchen mentioned, just so long as it doesn't screw wit...

Re: need export LD_LIBRARY_PATH for .desktop shortcut

How about this approach? Exec=/usr/bin/env LD_LIBRARY_PATH="$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/opt/qt512/lib" /opt/qt512/bin/yuzu That worked. I used this because yuzu is located in /usr/local/bin/, so you can just use yuzu. I'd like to try and make it so I don't need all that for running applications I compiled, l...

need export LD_LIBRARY_PATH for .desktop shortcut

I'm trying to run yuzu that I compiled but it requires that I use export "LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/qt512/lib/" in terminal before running it to work. So I put "source /opt/qt512/bin/qt512-env.sh" in .bashrc and it works but only for terminal. It doesn't work for .desktop shortcuts where Exec=yuzu would ...

Re: Help install QT 5.10 on Mint 19.1

I found a solution. I installed this PPA and that allowed me to compile RPCS3.

https://launchpad.net/~beineri/+archive ... 2.0-bionic

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:beineri/opt-qt-5.12.0-bionic
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt install qt512-meta-minimal

Help install QT 5.10 on Mint 19.1

I need helping updating QT 5.9.5 to 5.10, but I've not had luck. I downloaded the installer and it put a ton of files in /opt/Qt5.10.0 but qmake -v shows 5.9.5. I've tried editing /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qtchooser/default.conf to this. /opt/Qt5.10.0/5.10.0/gcc_64/bin /opt/Qt5.10.0/5.10.0/gcc_64/li...

Step #3 Install Vulkan

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install mesa-vulkan-drivers
For Vulkan, I would change this slightly:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install mesa-vulkan-drivers mesa-vulkan-drivers:i386
I needed the i386 to get a game that was white-listed on Proton to work.
I've made the changes, thanks.
