Re: SRWare Iron, Any Testimonials?

And just a minor point. Blocking tracking doesn't necessarily imply increased security. For increased security, I would be more comfortable with Chromium/Chrome since both are "in the public eye" and their user base is much larger implying a greater chance of security breaches being spotted by some...

Re: SRWare Iron, Any Testimonials?

SRWare Iron does not provide any difference in privacy options from Chromium. Any additional options it provides, such as the adblocker or the user agent string can be set independently by the user in Chromium. In my opinion it's an unnecessary modification to a perfectly acceptable internet browse...

SRWare Iron, Any Testimonials?

Hello all. I have recently downloaded SRWare Iron web browser. Something that really strikes me about it is how (sopposedly) secure it is. It (again, sopposedly) is a lot more secure it is compared to Chrome and Chromium. I'm certainly not a security reasearcher, nor am I even that knowledgable in t...

Re: What Are Virtual Networks???

I am trying to achieve secretly getting into a network with a hidden IP address. I am not a hacker, nor is this a hack attempt. Can virtual networks really control how others see me on a network? Perhaps I should have made this more clear in my first post, my apologies.

What Are Virtual Networks???

Hello all. It is great to be back on the forums once again. I have recently learned a small bit about Virtual Networks, but I still do not know what they are nor how they're used. Can somebody here please tell me what they are? Initially, I think of VirtualBox. Is a virtual network like what Virtual...

FREE online computer certification???

Hello all. This is my first time posting here in this section of the forum, so nice to be here :)

Does anybody know any websites that offer free computer training that mails a certificate? I've Googled around, but I would like the thoughts and opinions of actual people here on the forum.

Incredibly old computer, need an OS

Hello all. I have in my possession an incredibly aged computer. It is a Compaq Presario laptop, with a 1GB hard drive, Intel Pentium processor, and I believe it has less that 60MB of RAM, although I am not sure. It has no operating system, nor does it have any USB ports to boot from. It only has a C...

USB Hub, that's a new term I have never heard before. Thank you for the info. I figured there was such a device out there, I just did not know what it was called. Thank you again. ^_^

USB, Need More Ports (SOLVED)

Hello all. It's great to be back on the forum again. I need to add more USB ports to my laptop (running LM12 KDE, gotta love it!) however I would like to use some kind of Y splitter of sorts. Has anybody ever done this? Is there such thing as a port box with multiple USB ports that plugs into only o...

My appologies. We assume users have no Linux background or previous experience here on the forum. And yes, at this point, I am out of ideas.

Re: unable to find medium containing live file system

I see. Did you unplug the USB drive when you tried Mint4Win on your desktop? It is key if the USB drive is not inserted.

Firefox OS, powered by Linux Mint

I just came up with another stupid idea. I think Linux Mint and Mozilla both could hit it big if they combined efforts to create Firefox OS. Firefox OS could be designed around Linux Mint and made for netbooks. It would compete with Chrome OS an may put Firefox back on top. What's your opinion? Does...

Re: unable to find medium containing live file system

The USB is first in BIOS??? And it still cannot find it??? That's weird. Okay then, Plan B -- Extract Mint4Win.exe out of the ISO file using 7zip or WinRAR. Then, drag both the ISO file and Mint4Win.exe on your desktop. Double click Mint4Win.exe and go from there.

Re: unable to find medium containing live file system

(cant waste any more cd its starting to cost alot in damn cds) That's the truth lol. Okay, so what it sounds like to me is that your computer is not finding the USB stick your installing Mint with. When you turn on your computer, there should be a brief screen, and some where on that screen it shou...
