Unfortunately it didn't seem to work - it installed ok, but the display was still corrupt :(

Thanks for your help - but it looks as though I might either have to go back to Ubuntu, or LMDE!

Sorry if this is a little off topic, but if there are major issues with the ATI drivers, is there any way to get the opensource gallium driver to work properly? On my laptop it causes serious problems with overheating!

Thanks for the reply!

I've tried using jockey to install AMD's drivers, but they seem to destroy gnome 3 - not sure what version of fglrx catalyst installs, but it doesn't seem to work.
