Re: Naming a routor something "dangerous" help keep people o
I got afraid once when i found a router whose name would translate to something like, thecopssignalscanningpatrol ... So yes, some would be scared off, but not necessary the one who cracks your network. .... and i later found out that it was a famous router that people knew about because of the name...

Solved it. Did the brute force thing ... and Installed and uninstalled everything that i guessed had anything with sound to do. And changed everything i could find in a random fashion. Finally i got both outputs to work at the same time.... until i found a hidden switch called "headphone jack s...

Re: no external sound from HP nc8000
After checking the datasheet for Intel 82801DB-ICH4, it seems to have 4 different stereo outputs (three analog and one spdif). but in the settings i can only see one analog and one spdif output. This confirms my suspicion that the headphonejack actually is softwarecontrolled, so how do i enable the ...

Re: xrdp and rdesktop over 3G networks?
But now i have tried to connect with two windowsmachines (w7 and xp) over internet and neither of them gets any contact with the server. so, do i need to open up more ports than 3389 to get xrdp to work?
Does anyone here have any experience with xrdp or rdp at all?

[solved] xrdp and rdesktop over 3G networks?
Problem solved, the router needed to be rebooted. Now it works.. I have installed xrdp on the linuxbox (mint 11 katya) and rdesktop on the Nokia N900 (debian squeeze) cellphone , and enabled port 3389 in the router. It works perfectly on my private network (much better than vnc..) but when i try to ...

Re: How To: Login to your linux box remotely.
However for those who want guis, simply add the "-X" option to each ssh command, forwarding the graphical server and allowing you to launch guis from the command-line, e.g. "mintupload ~/.profile". The disadvantage of this is it's platform dependent, you need to have an X server...

Re: Remote desktop over ssh?
What i meant was remote desktop as a function, not specifically as the m$-protocol ;) For now i have iniated the session by running ssh -x which in itself works well, but i want the complete desktop with the menu and all too. So, from there i have run the command "nautilus" , which launche...
