Missing Fonts / Broken Characters in system fonts

I'm trying to get rid of all the broken entries in the font collection on my system. It wouldn't be so bad if they only appeared in the system fonts section but they also appear in applications like Libreoffice making it difficult to fond the one I want among all the duff one's that aren't properly ...

Re: Can I use a different screen locker with Cinnamon other than cinnamon-screensaver?

Yeah that's certainly not an ideal option, one I don't think ill resort to because that would only work if they use the same option flags which I don't think they do.

Can I use a different screen locker with Cinnamon other than cinnamon-screensaver?

***Skip to the bottom for the short version*** So I have a laptop which is quite old and I put Mint 18 XFCE on it which runs well except for MDM which just hogs an unholy amount of CPU usage, so I installed lightdm and got it configured then installed light-locker because id read it integrates well ...

I don't think you've read my post at all, this isn't what "Displays" does.

Help with MDM multi monitor setup. Wont work as expected.

I have a dual monitor setup with my primary 1920x1080 centrally, then my secondary monitor to the left slightly raised and portrait making it technically 1080x1920. I have this setup working perfectly well within Cinnamon but I have only recently got around to attempting to make MDM display corrrect...

Re: Power Management: inhibited by another program (But what???)

Well I should have explained that was my first thought, I closed all open windows and killed all programs that have a tendancy to background themselves instead of closing like Hexchat and Banshee. I'll see how it goes with Caffeing uninstalled and report back if the problem persists, I have no need ...

Power Management: inhibited by another program (But what???)

I use Mint 18 Cinnamon Edition, I have the official Inhibit applet on my panel and I occasionally go away from my PC and find an hour later that the screen saver has not kicked, when I look at the applet it has a tooltip stating that "Power Management: inhibited by another program" As shown in the s...

Re: Cinnamon Applet to Switch Primary Monitor (Bounty!!!)

Okay bounty's off, sorry all you mercs out there, I could tell everyone was gunning for that one. :P I've dug around in the xrandr manual, made a short bash script to detect the primary monitor and switch it accordingly, then used the command launcher applet to be able to run it automagically. I may...

[SOLVED] Cinnamon Applet to Switch Primary Monitor

Is there a Cinnamon applet which allows you to switch the primary monitor? I want to have one placed on my second monitor so I can switch over my primary monitor to my second one if I'm using my primary monitor for my games console. If there isn't one I would be willing to pay a bounty to someone wh...

Weird wallpaper zoom bug (multi monitor)

I've recently got a second monitor and I find Cinnamon a bit hard to work with in respect to dealing with multiple monitors, mate seems better but I'm not abandoning my favorite desktop without a fight. One of the weirdest things I've found is that when I set a desktop background the picture fits to...

Can I change screen res from a keyboard shortcut?

I play games on steam quite a bit and a lot of the lower resolution retro style games change your screen resolution right down to match the game which is obviously fine when you play the game but some of them, actually quite a lot of them, dont return the screen res back to normal when you leave the...

How to shutdown from terminal (NO SUDO)

I'm trying to get a command that can shut down the computer from the terminal without using sudo. Running Mint 17.2 Cinnamon 64bit It would seem cinnamon-session-quit --power-off --no-prompt should work, but just doesn't, it still prompts. I am aware I could remove a need for a sudo password for the...

Re: Mint 17 Cinnamon now not automounting

I switched to Ubuntu Mate temporarily because it was causing so much annoyance, now Mint 17.1 has been released and I've done a full re-install and the problem seems to be gone, thanks anyway.

Re: Cinnamon command line commands in bash

It's probably easier just to switch out the existing menu icon with your own choice of icon, I would watch out it you intend on using a logo like the Windows one, the legal ramifications could be pretty severe. I would look into creating your own install cd instead, could save you a lot of time, cus...

Yes I am, thats a standard group for a new user, just as quickly as it went, it is now back, it's causing such a bother that I will have to switch distros momentarily until this works.

Re: Mint 17 Cinnamon now not automounting

Okay ignore my last comment, Thunar wasnt actually mounting volumes, it just looked like it because I'm obviously not familiar with it, checking lsblk revealed no mounted media, I tried and tried to troubleshoot this issue which was still persisting across fresh (formatted) installs, eventually I ga...

Re: Mint 17 Cinnamon, Nemo not automounting

I've narrowed it down to Nemo causing the issue, if I load up thunar even in a cinnamon session then everything works as expected. I'll edit the title to show this.

Re: Mint 17 Cinnamon now not automounting

Bump,

I'm having this problem with three independent mint 17 cinnamon machines. It can't be just me. XFCE works fine.
