Re: problem with Canon printer after upgrade to Mint 19 Tara

1) Have you tried to delete the old printer and create a new one? 2) Also check and see if the following files are installed libc6-i386 - lib32z1 some canon printers also require that the i386 (32-bit) standard Linux libraries are installed. You can also try 3) sudo dpkg-reconfigure cups also in th...

[SOLVED] problem with Canon printer (and scanner) after upgrade to Mint 19 Tara

Change of update signal management

I realized that in the transition from 18.2 to 18.3 the management of the update signal has changed. Let me explain: opening the update manager and then "update rules" then selecting "Let me review sensitive updates" shows the recommended updates already checked and other optional (not checked). In ...

Linux Mint LXDE

Any news about a new version of Mint with LXDE? I'm thinking that after the next release of Lubuntu 14.04 LTS could be the time to give a new LXDE version to the community. Also the support of Windows XP is terminating in April 8th. Perharps a lot of users could take the occasion to jump to the new ...

Re: Installer (ubiquity) crash

You could also have a problem with the USB pen. Do you have another pen? If you have a CDRW or DVDRW give it a try, burn the ISO and boot from the CD/DVD to see if works or if it's the same. You can also use Gparted to move the partitions around or create a new partition to see if you can get away ...

Re: Installer (ubiquity) crash

Do you know if is it possible to use an alternate installer? Not in Mint but Ubuntu has one. If you have another computer (or VM) with Mint 12 you could try to use Clonezilla to clone that partition and that way you don't have to install on this computer but you may have to use recovery mode to fix...

Re: Installer (ubiquity) crash

If you have 1GB of RAM it's not a RAM problem. Have you tried to boot the live CD in compatibility mode and then run the installer? No, i haven't. I think is a bug of ubiquity because the previous version of Ubuntu 11.04 was working smoothly. The problem began with Ubuntu 11.10, infact i was not ab...

Re: Installer (ubiquity) crash

How much RAM does your computer have? If it's a RAM problem try to boot with the "only-ubiquity" boot option. How many primary partitions do you have on that disk (you can use Gparted to check)? 1 Gb ram. Windows (NTFS) is a primary partition the others logical partitions. Linux is formatted as EXT...

Installer (ubiquity) crash

Hi, The live cd of Linux Mint 12 32-bit is working very smooth on my pc. Trying to install it i had a crash of the installer (same happens with Ubuntu 11.10). :( I checked the disk: is ok. My system has 3 partition: Windows, Linux, swap. I used in ubiquity the manual mode to set the installation par...
