Re: Change screenshot key command

I don't get what I'm supposed to edit. "[custom-0]" just appears to be a (string) value of the key "custom-list". I also looked in the Mint keyboard settings and searched through dconf for "screenshot". The actual screenshot command doesn't appear to be defined anywhere. It seems you can only change...

Change screenshot key command

How can I edit the behavior of the PrintScreen key in Petra Cinnamon? When I was using Mint 13 LTS, I was able to bind the PrintScreen key to bring up gnome-screenshot's interactive menu by setting the following key-value pair in gconf-editor: /apps/metacity/keybinding_commands/command_screenshot = ...

How are mdm face browser images set?

I didn't get a response from my last post on this issue, so I decided to try to ask the question differently. I could not find this info in the mdm man pages (sections 1 and 8 are what I read). I also tried reading mdm's config file...

Sound on multi-user system

I'm on Maya 64 bit Cinnamon edition. About 4 people use this desktop regularly. One user, for some unknown reason, always turns the sound all the way down from the software mixer after logging in. If another user is logged in at the same time, and let's say has the volume set at 50%, that user won't...

Re: Corrupted USB drive

I think I'm going to have to write this off as a huge (i.e. ~1TB of backups) loss. The drive doesn't even show up in TestDisk. It does show up under storage under Computer Management in Windows, but it cannot be initialized (interestingly, right-clicking on it says "This device is working properly")...

Corrupted USB drive

I believe I have a corrupted NTFS partition on my external USB drive (it only has one partition). When I plug it in, I get something like this: [26479.436013] Info fld=0x0 [26479.436016] sd 7:0:0:0: [sdd] Add. Nvidia installer conflict solution

Note: the following applies to Linux Mint 13 Maya, amd64 (using packages from Precise Pangolin). Today, I logged in to Cinnamon to discover that I had no window manager or panel, but I could launch Nautilus from the desktop. My .xsession-errors told me that Clutter had crashed due to a fatal error,...

It was disabled. However, I have no idea why.

Alt + F2 does launch run command dialog

I'm using a gnome shell session. When I press Alt+F2, the "run command" box does not appear.

I have used xev to test whether the keys are even sending signals to the X server, and they are.

Changing the Mint-Z colorscheme

I want to tweak the Mint-Z GTK theme and change the green selection color to blue. I copied "/usr/share/themes/Mint-Z" to "~/.themes/mint-dbb", then I did a global substitution on #accd8a (light green) in "gtk-2.0/gtkrc", "gtk-3.0/gtk.css" "gtk-3.0/settings.ini". The widgets (like selected buttons, ...

Re: X fails to start on fresh installation

I had just installed from the DVD, removed the disc, and booted from the HDD. After doing a full upgrade with aptitude, I was able to get X to start. Apparently there is a problem with the version of X shipped with the DVD. Also, the upgrade included kernel 3.2.0-24, whereas the DVD had 3.2.0-23. Pe...

X fails to start on fresh installation

I ran the 32bit Mate DVD in compatibility mode to install Mint 13 through ubiquity, and X worked fine. The installation finished with no errors. However, X will not start on the new system.
