Re: Linux Mint Raid 0

Thanks for this tutorial. I was successful, but not until I realized two things... It's essential to stop any previous raid set on the disks before you can proceed and it is done with mdadm -S /dev/mdxxx. Previous raid sets may exist because of previous attempts of making it work :) And in the end, ...

Re: Asus P5P43TD-PRO + partitions>2GB (GPT) + dual boot Win

Finally, I found out it's impossible because mdadm –assemble –scan returns nothing (mdadm can't detect ich10r intel raid controller and arrays on it). It's related to some bug.

Asus P5P43TD-PRO + partitions>2GB (GPT) + dual boot Win 7

Hello! Seems like a very complicated thing to achieve dual boot (Mint 14 KDE & Windows 7) on my setup... Actually I tried it 2 years ago and I gave up. Now I'm even more determined to switch to Linux and I want to try again because things may be different now... As far as I can see, my board does no...

Re: Associate files with custom applications

Thank you very much for your comprehensive answer! Will try that manual way... Now I wouldn't say it's not Mint's flaw because if you ask me Gnome 3 is actually very unfriendly and almost unusable because of such a basic disfunctionality, and thus shouldn't then even be included in Mint... Thanks ag...

Re: Associate files with custom applications

OK, so I have Gnome, Gnome Classic and Gnome Classic (No Effect) to choose from when I login... In either of these 3 desktops, I get the following dialogue for association of files: shot.png So I concluded this cannot be dont from GUI. Anyone knows how can I do it from console, if possible at all? I...

Controlling fan speed on Asus AT5IONT-I board

Using Mint 12 Lisa, anyone managed to control fan speeds. Tried through pwmconfig and also thinkpad_acpi, no luck... Maybe I miss something... seems like it's some problem with kernel 3 still not supporting some things? Thanks...

Re: Associate files with custom applications

Sorry guys, but you still haven't described where can I put path or browse to point to custom application I want to use for opening some type of file, really there are no such options and boxes on screens you told me to look into. And I already tried it before. Please, if I'm missing something try t...

Associate files with custom applications

I'm using Gnome Classic desktop (I hope I'm right when I say it's Mate? :), and there is some serious flaw I noticed... In short, in Nautilus how can I associate some file type to be opened with custom application found in filesystem, not just with registered ones offered by Nautilus?

Thanks...

Re: Flash video VDPAU acceleration. Someone did it right?

I know... but there is subtle difference between vdpau decoding and vdpau presentation... As I said, I think I achieved vdpau decoding, but not presentation... Still I have to try Flash 11 beta you've mentioned... Right now I just gotta install system from scratch :)...

Re: building mplayer config file from command line parameter

OK, now I realised -input parameter is not needed when mplayer is directly used not through GUI, and I simplified the config and it works now, but still I'm curious how suboptions are entered into config file
