Re: Bluetoot printer installation

Basic reference is https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BluetoothSetup. Do not use hidd (which does not exist) but try to connect and authenticate, as PIN/passkey must be entered: sudo hcitool cc "2C:27:D7:A2:4C:4D" & sudo hcitool auth "2C:27:D7:A2:4C:4D" (note the reset advice ...

Re: Linux mint wifi works but not as a hotspot

As mentioned in some other tickets, like https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?p=2346297#p2346297, some had to downgrade wpasupplicant. I did that in Mint 21 and did not check if something changed in 21.2. Some folks solved with drivers, so always search in forum before posting Note that for us...

Re: USB-C hub makes glibtop flood .xsession-errors file

Looking more, found this "compile this driver into the kernel" or "load the driver as a module at boot time" for "ure": https://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/focal/en/man4/if_ure.4freebsd.html I see r8152 in modules. % modinfo r8152 filename: /lib/modules/5.15.0-78-gener...

Re: Hotspot: No connection with LM 21.1

I also spent hours until I downgreaded... strange. There is https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?p=2336758 where @Linuxean and @islandpal had to disable ufw - but did not mention wpasupplicant. For usage of Hotspot, I added idea/request https://github.com/orgs/linuxmint/discussions/16. I did n...

Re: Is different workspace resolutions possible?

Cinnamon here points to github, then there feature requests point to another address. strange.
Anyway, I added "Enable scaling in workspaces" idea as https://github.com/orgs/linuxmint/discussions/67.

Close the Display app. Those colored squares only show when the app is open.
OMG .... THANKS. I would have not thought of that -very nice, simple and helpful :)

[Solved] How to turn off top left display notification for multiple displays

I am in Mint 21 lenovo laptop with external monitor. In Dsiplay I see red laptop as "built-in display" and green other external monitor. And that is OK. Only problem is that on top left of both monitors I have red and green notifications telling me which monitor is which (1 Built-in displa...

Re: How to run older GTK app

This is not a problem of LibreOffice but of missing old GTK2 environment, looks like all is GTK3 now.
XFCE will also not work because XFCE4 is GTK3.

Re: Hot to run older GTK app

In my case, I tested some bugs in Libreoffice, I cannot run old versions in GTK3 and bugs don't appear in gen.
'=gtk' should be valid option, per what I read.
Thank you for explanation about MATE, I missed that.
But general question remains, how to run older GTK app in GTK rendering.

How to run older GTK2 app

I'm trying to run older GTK app in Mint 19 with Cinnamon. App crashes in GTK3. I use command "SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk application" that should work but it doesn't. "SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen application" works. I tried to install and use MATE core desktop, but it also runs GTK3 applica...

I hope this is the right place to ask what I asked already, but on release topics, where I didn't get a proper answer. Like https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=143&t=171461#p888459 and https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=228&t=113683#p762522. Still, there may have been a go...

Re: It's a pity Icecat browser is not in the repository

Not correct. Installing like that invokes the error:
iceweasel:
Depends: libhunspell-1.3-0 (>=1.3.3) but 1.3.2-6ubuntu2 is to be installed
Depends: libstdc++6 (>=4.9) but 4.8.4-2ubuntu1~14.04 is to be installed

So, I agree Mint should have IceWeasel alongside Firefox.

Re: Cinnamon doesn't work with remote sessions (XRDP)

NoMachine is just desktop sharing, not RDP. I have it working in Ubuntu 14.10 with latest NoMachine, but it doesn't work now in Mint Cinnamon, connection is established but the screen is black. I can't remember whether it used to work. Installation is easy, it needs to be downloaded from their web p...

Re: Cinnamon 2D and remote session with X2GO

I would say the same problem remains with the current Mint 17.1. and X2GO 4.0.3.2. It's important because there's general problem with RDP to Cinnamon. Furter info: X2GO's Desktop Environment Compatibility shows it doesn't support Cinnamon either: http://wiki.x2go.org/doku.php/doc:de-compat Bug: htt...
