Re: [SOLVED] Cinnamon login window display resolution

Hey, you can use xandr to set the resolution for the login window, depending on which display manager you use, both have the capability for running scripts when x starts thus xrandr runs before you login setting the correct resolution.

Your x.org solution works fine though.

Re: Cinnamon login window display resolution

You can use xrandr to set your resolution. Assuming your monitor is connected by VGA, you could run something similar to this: xrandr --output VGA1 --primary --mode 1280x720 using xrandr -q to check your current config whilst logged in. This will tell you what to use as the value for --output on the...

Fix wrong resolution at MDM/LightDM login screen

This might be useful to some people, if you use a laptop with an external screen, this will allow you to have your laptop screen turned off by default and the external display set to the correct resolution at the login screen. This stops the screen readjusting itself after login. My post is here: ht...

Re: Snapping windows with shortcut keys

After I just posted this, I found this: https://github.com/paulswartz/gnome-shell-grid This emulates the grid feature from compiz, there is an outstanding pull request that fixes the corner shortcuts not working but it isn't pulled yet. You should replace gnome-shell-grid.py with https://raw.github....

<SOLVED> Snapping windows (compiz grid) with shortcut keys

In the cinnamon shortcut options, there is settings that expand a window horizontally or vertically and expand a window both ways. Is it possible to add keyboard shortcut keys that emulate the window snapping features when you drag a window to the left and right? so that the windows snap to the left...

Re: Enable Lightdm in LM 13 Maya

I'm back to using lightdm with mint backgrounds, I'm not a fan of the theme for linuxmint MDM, it should have a user list by default, typing in your username is unnecessary. I saw a fix for this in this thread: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=190&t=101338&p=584179, but if you add it in, ...

Re: Javascript documentation

Just a quick update on what I've learned today. There is a project called gjs or seed that allows you to call C library API's in other languages, in this case javascript. Looks like gnome 3 / cinnamon uses gjs. So for example on line 179 of /usr/share/cinnamon/js/ui/windowManager.js we have actor.mo...

Re: Javascript documentation

I'm in the same place as you right now. I've been able to learn a lot by looking at all the javascript in /usr/share/cinnamon/js. However some kind of guide or visualization of how this all works together would be really helpful for me. I know cinnamon is a new project and still developing, but I fe...

GTK: Zukitwo
Window Theme : Adwaita
Modified default cinnamon theme + docky.

I'd drop docky completely if there was an applet for getting unread count from thunderbird and displaying it on a cinnamon panel.

Applet/extension for checking gmail/thunderbird

Is there an applet or extension that will show how many unread messages are in thunderbird or even just a gmail account? It's the only feature "I need" from my old setup with docky. It's very useful seeing unread count from the inbox.

Re: Cinnamon 1.3 released and so nice!!

I have small bug. For some reason Mint update managers icon in bottom bar is wrong size. It's like 2 times bigger than any other icon. At least in Baldr, Loki, Ambiance Mint and Ubuntu theme. Not in default theme. You see it after relogin. Try editing .panel-status-button in cinnamon.css and add he...

I've been using the Frost theme (thanks Daniel4lm) and I noticed notifications were blank (only a blank dark box appeared). You just need to add color: white to the #notification declaration around line 1100 in cinnamon.css.

Re: Remove window list in cinnamon

Just another quick note, because I am using the flipped layout, whenever I minimize windows, the window animations go up towards where the window list should be. I added this code to /usr/share/cinnamon/js/ui/main.js at line 243 if (Main.desktop_layout == Main.LAYOUT_FLIPPED) { monitor = Main.layout...

Remove window list in cinnamon

I use a dock at the bottom of my screen and use the flipped layout for cinnamon. I turned off the window list by editing /usr/share/cinnamon/js/ui/main.js and commenting these lines out at line 276 windowList = new WindowList.WindowList(St.Side.TOP); panel._leftBox.add(windowList.actor); change too ...

Active item is red/pink

Anyone else noticing this? I've noticed this in cinnamon using a few different gtk themes. The active item in a drop down box or in nautilus, flashes a reddish pink. See "All Settings" in the screenshot.

Seems to only happen in gnome 3 apps.
