Re: Is it time?
I tried LMDE and didn't like it. LMDE comes with the Cinnamon desktop environment so for me, this is why I don't care for LMDE. Same here. I always had a LMDE install along with my Mint installs when LMDE had Mate. When Clem ended Mate on LMDE I quit using it. I simply do not care for Cinnamon. It'...

Re: LMDE4 WiFi Adapter Not Working
I also ran into the same WiFi dilemma the OP experienced. I am using an Edimax EW-7711UTn USB WiFi adapter that uses the rt2800usb driver. At first I thought I had a driver issue but discarded that notion when I saw the correct driver was installed, the adapter was recognized, etc. When I saw the po...

Convert 2 iptables rules to ufw
I have a couple of rules I need to insert into UFW but both are in iptables format and I cannot figure out how to convert to UFW format and where I need to put them. If someone could help me with this I would really appreciate it. Here are the 2 iptables rules: iptables -t mangle -A PREROUTING -i en...

Re: Mint-X Grey Theme & Mint-Y icon color conflict
If you decide to edit them, use inkscape. Firstly, I tried to find the corresponding files in Mint-X but things just aren't the same, different locations apparently because there's no panel folder and png's apparently are used rather than .svg, etc and so forth. Doesn't look interchangeable to me. ...

Re: Mint-X Grey Theme & Mint-Y icon color conflict
Yes, I know Mint-X has it's own icons but much prefer the Mint-Y icons but I really do not care for the Mint-Y themes. I just found what I am looking for at /usr/share/icons/Mint-Y/panel. Problem now is that they are .svg files and I have to find something to edit vector graphics. I will find someth...

Mint-X Grey Theme & Mint-Y icon color conflict
LM19 Mate I am using Mint-X-Grey Theme and Mint-Y icons. The panel color (which I want to retain) and the colors of the internet connection and sound icons in the Notification Area are basically the same, making it impossible to visually view them. They are there and I can click the area to change s...

Re: Mint 18.2 installation problem
Otherwise, the stable version of Linux Mint 18.2 is very close to being released. Assuming that you're attempting this with the beta version, perhaps the stable version may be worth waiting for. Actually the LM 18.2 final is available in the mirrors now. Just not officially announced yet. I downloa...

Re: no autologin Mint 18 Cinnamon
I've been working with LM 18.2 amd64 MATE Beta for a couple of days now. I selected the auto login option during installation. Have not had even one hiccup yet and that's with numerous reboots, power downs/ups between yesterday and today. Auto login works totally well so far.

Re: no autologin Mint 18 Cinnamon
Didn't last long, got the login screen again. So, just gonna go with timed login on this machine. I can live with a 5 second delay. Not sure why, but auto login still works on my other machine (fingers crossed  ). You've officially joined a long list of others that had high hopes, only to hav...

Re: no autologin Mint 18 Cinnamon
Seems to me there must be a difference between the two machines entries, but darned if I know what it is. The entries can be the same but one will work and the other will not. You can clone a drive and put the clone into the exact same hardware and one may work and one may fail. I still cons...

Re: no autologin Mint 18 Cinnamon
Yeah, it's a strange bug for sure. I decided to try placing 'SelectLastLogin=true' first in mdm.conf on the machine that failed. It's working, but too soon to tell if it will hold. Well, here's the thing; Bright and early this AM I started one of the machines and up pops the mdm login screen. After...

Re: no autologin Mint 18 Cinnamon
Well, the jinx is on. I just got the 'select a user' login screen again on one laptop. So, it seems this isn't a true fix after all even though it's still holding on my other machine. Sorry 'bout that. It's still holding on both of my machines with the mdm.conf I have. That's the weirdness that's p...

Re: no autologin Mint 18 Cinnamon
Trapper, yes that is same as mine. For me, this is the fix...so far anyway. Okay. I have this set up on 2 boxes now that I had been using lightdm previously to prevent the autologin failure. I will keep testing this. Cosmo. is right regarding the switch to a new display manager in 18.2 and continui...

Re: no autologin Mint 18 Cinnamon
This is what worked for me: In Auto Login Window, check 'Enable Automatic Login' only Login as administrator to etc.mdm.mdm.conf Set 'Timed Login Enable' to false Add this line above [security]: SelectLastLogin=true Save & reboot your system I am testing this on LM18.1 MATE 64 bit. So far it is...

Re: Mozo opens in terminal but not by clicking 'Edit Menus'.
+1 with MATE 1.18 update but MATE 1.18 "Added support for Menulibre menu editor, if installed it is preferred over Mozo." link: http://mate-desktop.org/fr/blog/2017-03-13-mate-1-18-released/ I just installed menulibre. It does launch using the right click. I cannot say I am a fan of menul...

Mozo opens in terminal but not by clicking 'Edit Menus'.
LMDE2 64 MATE I can launch mozo in a terminal. I cannot get mozo to launch after right click on Applications in the panel and selecting 'Edit Menus'. It worked many moons ago but this is the first time in a long, long while that I've attempted to use the feature. I checked .config/menus and all file...

Bothersome verticle line in Notification Area
I have a vertical line that always appears on the right end of my Notification Area 1.16.0 (just to the right of the speaker icon) in LM18.1 MATE 64 bit. It just bothers me because it shouldn't be there and I don't know how to rid myself of it. http://ledduk.net/images/indicator.jpg Any idea what ca...
