This feature is added in marco 1.3.0... are you sure you have the latest version (1.4.1)?

There is already an option to avoid thumbnails:

This is an option added in MATE (not from GNOME2) to restore default panels.

This should be fixed in libmatepolkit 1.2.0-2 (it's in the build queue).

Re: Mate Desktop Environment - GNOME2 fork
I think debian.linuxmint.com is synced every update pack. So the options are: use an ftp.XX.debian.org mirror (wheezy, not sid) or wait the next update pack.

Re: Mate Desktop Environment - GNOME2 fork
Hi bdantas,
accordingly to packages.debian.org, wheezy has libtiff4 3.9.6-1, libexempi3 2.2.0-1, libglib2.0-0 2.30.2-6, libacl1 2.2.51-5 and so on... are you sure you were using a correct wheezy repository?

Re: Mate Desktop Environment - GNOME2 fork
Hi bdantas. Can you help me? Try to install mate-core dependencies separately one by one and find the package that is uninstallable? Thanks

Re: "Theme will not look as intended"
This issue, and many other, are solved in latest MATE packages, currently not available in Linux Mint repository. You should follow those guidelines http://wiki.mate-desktop.org/download to install the new and fixed packages.

Re: No Notifications Of Available Updates.
I dont think this issue is related to MATE. It is possible that the update notifier icons are for GNOME only?

Re: 2 Problems with Notification Area
1. the resize grip will solved soon...
2. the sound icons is a notify icon, not an applet, it cannot be moved. you can add the volume applet to have it in your desired position, and disable pulseaudio to hide the sound notify icon
