Re: Can I VM to Windows 10 (already installed) from Mint?
Hi, i used to do that with Windows XP. There you could define different Hardware profiles in windows to boot to. You could create a new HW profile within windows and use the physical disk as HD for your VM. When booting from VMplayer, select the new HW profile and it will install the correct drivers...

Re: how visualize song lyrics in Banshee?
Sorry, I'm currently running Debian Testing and have LMDE2 installed as well but not the Ubuntu based Mint version. What I gave you were the package names of Debian but I assumed the Ubuntu base is the same. I have banshee 2.6.2 installed (on Debian Testing though) with the lyrics extension v2.4. Ch...

Re: how visualize song lyrics in Banshee?
Make sure that under Edit -> Preferences -> Extensions you have the Lyrics extension activated. Make sure the content pane is visible View -> Content Pane In the content pane at the bottom of the main banshee windows you can select the content to be shown from the icon on the right. There you will f...

Re: WINE program icons
Hi,
I had the same problem under Gnome Shell. It seems to be a issue of the icon theme. Try to switch the theme and see if the correct icons are displayed. I'm currently using the Numix icon theme which works fine. Also works under Cinnamon.
Cheers!

Re: Logitech Unifying Technology compatibility
Hi, Maybe that's because the keyboard and mouse have already been paired. I'm thinking that if you have to replace either keyboard or mouse, then it won't work. You have to somehow pair the new device to the same dongle. Hmm, I don't remember pairing mouse / keyboard / dongle. But I also run this s...

Re: Logitech Unifying Technology compatibility
Hi,
I have a Logitech K340 keyboard and a Logitech mouse on 1 usb dongle working just fine! Don't know what model the mouse is, but I seem to remember mouse and keyboard came as a set.
Cheers!

Re: Experiences using wine/Office2010 on Mint 17?
Hi again, be aware that not all SP are supported yet with CX. Best is to install via the CX "Install Software" dialog. I have SP1 installed which is support, SP2 seems not to be. If you want to activate MSO via a KMS server, there are special intructions available how to do that: http://ww...

Re: Experiences using wine/Office2010 on Mint 17?
Hi, I'm running Linux in an all windows / Office environment since years using Codeweavers CXoffice to run MS Office products for compatibility reasons with my colleagues. First I used Office 2003 then 2007 and I'm now on Office 2010. As long as we are talking Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook even P...

Re: A good PDF reader?
IF (big if here:) it has to be Foxit Reader: the latest windows version runs fine under wine or at least under Codeweavers crossover version. I use it if I have to make annotation or comments to a pdf file.
Cheers!

How strange! Works fine here without a problem; alas at the moment I'm not booted into Mint. Try to set the URL in ""

Re: Midori Browser
looks like Midori just tries to access a local file of your installation which is not there.
Just type in a URL directly, e.g.
linuxmint.com
It's probably working just fine.
Cheers!

Re: power manager not running?
No, but I also did not dig to extensively as I had a working solution with the start-up script. Motivation was low to find a proper solution to it

Re: quick and easy backup solution
Hi, you might want to limit the resource (CPU and IO) that rsync is using when doing the back, e.g. nice -n 19 ionice -c2 -n7 rsync .... I suspect it's mostly HD acticity during the backup that slows down the computer. I use backintime as a GUI frontend to define profiles of what (and what not) to b...

Now that you mention it, I think I had problems, too, with the Mint icons under GS3.8 ... Should have remembered ....
Anyway, I'm glad it worked for you!
Cheers and enjoy your desktops!

Re: [SOLVED] using gnome-shell and cinnamon on same install?
Hi TaraMK, I'm not sure if I can help you, but I will try to answer your questions to the best of my knowledge. One thing one hase to keep in mind: my system is a bit of a hybrid system. In particular the gnome 3.8 installation is (probably) not vanilla LMDE. I puller gnome3.8 from the debian repos ...
