Thanks for all the suggestions.

But I have given up on Mint. It just doesn't work.

I have installed a Debian and it works.

At least I found out it wasn't a dual boot issue. A new harddisk in the machine, and still Mint cannot be started!

There is no point in chain loading. I have no exp with EasyBCD, so I cannot help you, if it is a bootloader problem. Ca...
