I already managed to install it. I used the USB Image writer from Live and installed it on the same USB.

Hi guys,

I cannot install LMDE 2013 mate edition. It is sitting on "Calculating file indexes", I had ROSA earlier and have deleted and recreated the partitions too.

Windows 7 is already installed so yes it will be a dual boot.

Please help

Re: fastest ubuntu,debian distro

If you talk about text based distros then most of them are very fast. depends on the kernel and also the services being loaded during boot. As to the DE it will all depend on the weighty features of each DE. Comparing gnome with Xfce , then I find xfce faster. To my understanding LMDE is a debian ba...

Re: Lisa installation error

Well, you already have 8 partitions. So you will have to already have an extended partition. You can only have one extended partition. You will need to increase the size of your extended partition, so it has free space. In the free space inside the extended partition you can then create new logical...

Re: Lisa installation error

I tried using Gparted in the Live session with Pear Already installed. Now the problem is it is only allowing Primary partitions and not allowing any extended ones. It is a 160 GB WD HDD with Pear having the following mount points. / 15 GB /home 5GB /srv 5GB /opt 5GB /var 5GB /tmp 3GB Swap 2GB /boot...

Re: Lisa installation error

That sounds unlikely; the forums would be flooded with this if it was the case. I suspect there is some issue with relation to your hardware. How did you manage to solve it for Pear OS? You may try using GParted from the Live session, to setup and format partitions ahead of starting the installatio...

Lisa installation error

Don't know if this actually is an error but I tried Lisa installation with a system having Pear OS in a dual boot mode, after creating the logical partitions for mount points and clicking on continue after the Timezone it gives an error creating ext4 . Actually this had also happened when installing...

Will give it a try.

Erm, on which Linux Mint version and desktop environment are you trying to do this? You didn't share that.

That would be Mint 12.

My main system is LMDE and with the help of Macbuntu and gnome global menu I get a system which resembles OS X and just works perfectly and smooth. I have a dual boot system Win 7 64 Ultimate (I don't touch it anymore except for transferring mp3's to my cell phone ) and the other one is LMDE. I got ...

Re: Similar applications removal

You need lxmed for doing that http://lxmed.sourceforge.net/ But that's a menu editor, I do not need a menu editor. Ok, Let me explain, when I go to the menu I see something like this : Display settings Display settings Task Manager Task Manager it shows up twice for many apps and that's what I want...

Re: OSX

Which desktop environment? Gnome 2 - I would just: sudo mv /usr/bin/gnome-panel /usr/bin/gnome-panel-old Then log out/in. This means the panel is available if you need it, by running gnome-panel-old. Gnome 3 - you can't, but you can hide it with an extension. Steve Thnx it worked and I am using Doc...
