Re: Linux Computer Doesn't Stay Shut Down
It may be of no relevance to your problem, but I used to have exactly the same problem as you. I discovered that my computer would always reboot if I left my USB connected printer turned on when shutting down. I never got to the cause of the problem or find out how to stop it happening other than th...

Re: I cannot verify integrity of 20.1 cinnamon mirrors. I have downloaded 6 mirrors so far.
I have forgotten the little I knew about Windows, but if I were checking sha256 numbers on an ISO downloaded in Mint I would cd to the Downloads folder before running the check. So no path information in the check, just the ISO folder name. I notice that in the guidance here https://forums.linuxmint...

Re: Signal Messenger app
I have it on my 19.3 Cinnamon machine. It works fine. Can't comment on security on this or any other application as I'm a user, not an expert, but if you accept that the Android app is secure then it seems reasonable to believe the Linux one is probably OK. Be aware that the Linux app is not a stand...

Re: Lenovo BIOS Update needs windows to work
I get the same message on startup on my Lenovo G575. From the googling I did in efforts to find out what it all means I found several references to code that would prevent the message without making any change to the reason for the message. Some references that said it was an indication that the cpu...

Re: Remote file transfer
A Nextcloud server will do what you want. https://nextcloud.com/ I've had one set up for local use only, but it is designed for remote access. I'm not sure if the free version is open to multiple users. There are lots of videos on Youtube showing setup.

Re: [Desperate] Is it possible to read SMS when the SIM is installed inside a Router ?
I get an sms to my 4G router every month to remind me that my bill is ready to view. I just log into the router (in my case 192.168.0.1) and find the sms through the router menu's. Have you tried this? I can't give you any guidance on your router.

Hello Frmb. Are you still running the version of Mint that you installed in 2016?

Re: accidental selection and deletion ANNOYING!!!
Hi Badmedicine. You shouldn't feel alone in experiencing random selections while typing on your laptop, I have the same on my Lenovo G575 but it clearly doesn't bug me as much as it does you. I'm pretty certain that in most cases it's when I've brushed across the touchpad. I notice that in Preferenc...

Drat. Sorry Flemur I didn't see your first reply that arrived while I was composing my second. But you did make me realise that I was searching the wrong question. Should have been how to move /home. (accepting that renaming sda and sdb can't be done) I followed the procedure here https://www.makete...

Re: Exchange /dev/sda and /dev/sdb Necessary? Possible?
I've been thinking some more.
Could I use gparted to format the sdd and designate it as /home, and wipe the /home from the M2 drive?
Edit - No. Think some more before posting, Bob

SOLVED Exchange /dev/sda and /dev/sdb Necessary? Possible?
I've put an additional drive into my laptop, and planned to reinstall 19.3 Cinnamon so that the original M2 drive holds / and the SATA SSD holds /home. The M2 drive is being seen as /dev/sdb, the SATA is /dev/sda. For the sake of neatness I'd like it to be the other way round, so /dev/sda is / and /...

Re: stupid, new, uninformed. Your choice
You would be best downloading a more up to date version of LM than 17.3. That one is no longer supported and it will give you more grief with being unable to update packages.
18.3 will be supported for a few more years

Re: Problem resuming from suspend LM19.3 xfce
My suspicion is that this is a 19.3 issue, not an xfce issue. Cinammon 19.3 has the same symptoms. I've installed 19.1 Cinnamon and that is suspending correctly on lid close. I'll keep updating until it breaks to see if I can narrow down to the cause. It might take a long time

Problem resuming from suspend LM19.3 xfce
After upgrading to LM19.3 xfce I am having problems resuming from suspend when suspend is caused by closing the laptop lid. I have an action button for suspend on the panel. I can suspend, close the lid, open the lid, the power button has a solid light, press the power button and be back where I was...
