And in the process lose all Nautilus extensions?
The point is to allow side-by-side installations of both Gnome3 with Nautilus and MATE with Caja. Otherwise, the only file manager you'd have installed on your system would be one or the other.

Re: Mate Desktop Environment - GNOME2 fork

Tried removing and re-adding mintmenu a few times, didn't help. I also tried leaving it there after the error and killing the mate panel, also didn't fix it. I use an nvidia card, so perhaps I'll just deal with the lack of plymouth :p I have an nvidia card with Plymouth, and it works fine. I may ha...

Re: Mate Desktop Environment - GNOME2 fork

Yep, I do have tridex added and have done an apt update and upgrade a few times since it was added. I'm currently using one of the other two menu applets that are available but mintmenu is the best by far IMO :p Also I need to test my mint 12 installation in Gnome 3 a little more but at least after...

Re: 2 Problems with Notification Area

The about page should show Notification Area 1.1.0 with a link to Mate, if you are indeed running Mate.

I think mank_in is correct, and you are in Gnome Shell.

Re: Mate Desktop Environment - GNOME2 fork

I see consistent 60% CPU utilization while compiz is running. Killing compiz drops the cpu down to about 3% . are you using mate-session-manager 1.1.2? did you restarted the session? Still ~60% CPU after reboot: $ dpkg -s mate-session-manager Package: mate-session-manager Status: install ok install...

Re: Mate Desktop Environment - GNOME2 fork

Hi. The compiz+MATE high cpu usage shoud be fixed in mate-session-manager 1.1.2 (available in tridex). Can you confirm? I see consistent 60% CPU utilization while compiz is running. Killing compiz drops the cpu down to about 3% . AMD64 with Nvidia Driver stovenator@laptop ~ $ uname -a Linux laptop ...

Are you running Linux Mint 12? Do you have /etc/lightdm/ folder at all? If so, what's in the /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf ?

Okay, I've rebuilt the package and the extension actually gets built and works correctly. Here are the instructions (again) for you do-it-yourselfers. I assume you already have build-essential and debuild installed, but if not you can grab those. There may be other build dependencies, that I'm unawa...

Re: Mate Desktop Environment - GNOME2 fork

After the upgrade, the bottom panel (as well as the top panel which I added myself) has a gray "resize" arrow on the bottom-right corner. Having the arrow on all windows is obviously a brilliant idea as it makes it easy to resize, but having the arrow on the corner of the panels looks sil...
