Re: CF card as SSD: Programs freezing up

Hi there, sorry for the bump but I have an update on the issue. A few days ago I recieved my new, faster, CF card. It's 600x which - theoretically - means a read/write speed of 90MB/s. I wasn't expecting quite that but I was hopeful the freezing issue would be resolved. Unfortunately, the installer ...

Re: CF card as SSD: Programs freezing up

I would try to greatly reduce writes to the CF. "noatime" in fstab mounts is the most prominent change to the default mount options Aah, I forgot about noatime. it's made a big difference in terms of snappiness, thanks! I first installed Mint 11 as a test of speed before Mint 12, and it seemed to have this problem too but I'm not sure. Basically, if the card is bein...

Re: Add Option of Full Disk Encryption to all future Linux M

I registered to add my support for this. Previously, I had Debian on my laptop and having the whole drive (minus /boot) encrypted was a great feature. Installing Mint was a step up in terms of out-of-box user experience, however the lack of encryption, aside from just encrypting the home folder felt...
