Re: (SOLVED) How to create a launcher with consecutive comma
ok, I tried again using Desktop Launcher with "Run in Terminal" and it starts and executes correctly. However, my script uses sudo to run a package. I don;t want the ecript to prompt for sudo password while executing. I have inserted "Here Document" within script that contacts my...

Re: (SOLVED) How to create a launcher with consecutive comma
Not sure if this is best thread to ask my question.. will try out anyway. I have a simple shell script that calls a package "apt-hotspot" to setup wifi hotspot on laptop using sudo login. The script is working fine when I run from command line. My question is how can I execute my shell scr...

Re: Linux Mint 12 KDE RC first impressions
And if you want to include the "mint-meta-kde" packages, you can try adding this line to your "sources.list" before you try installing: deb http://packages.linuxmint.com/ lisa-kde main upstream import Once you've added the line, installing "mint-meta-kde" should instal...

Re: Linux Mint 12 KDE RC first impressions
IS it possible to install the LM12KDE environment on an existing LM12 installation? Yes. The package you want to install is mint-meta-kde. Stay with it while it installs, because at a certain point it will ask you to choose between GDM or KDM as the login manager. I updated/reloaded the Synaptic pa...

Re: LMDE FAQ
Not sure if this is right thread to ask. However I will chance it.
Any guesstimated timeline for LMDE KDE next release?
I gather LM 12 KDE test version is out.

Re: Mint 12 KDE
As for an easy "works out of the box" KDE distro, there is only one option for me. PCLinuxOS. PCLinuxOS has problems with my usb mobile modem Huawei 1750. :( Currently this is my only way of connection to internet. But ubuntu and its clones are non problematic in this case. Maybe this wil...

Re: Fonts in Mint KDE 10
Even I had this problem when I installed KDE on Lisa. Had to spend an hour looking to correct default font rendering. KDE is such a wonderful desktop environment, but for these obvious tweaks become daunting for noobs like me.. Gnome has more user base because of these reasons, not purely on merits....

Re: Mint 12 KDE
I want to highlight my question again... So long as I can do clean and full KDE install (and future updates) on my LM base, what's so damning about it? What makes people so desperate about an official LM KDE version like Kubuntu etc. ? I think I have a good functional and pleasant desktop in KDE 4....

Re: Mint KDE vs. GNOME KDE with install kde-full
Mostly in selection of packages. If you install KDE on top of Mint 12, when you boot up the Mint Update Manager will show up on your panel and it is fully functional. The default application launcher in Mint KDE is Lancelot Launcher, so you can just change the kickoff launcher to that if you prefer...

Re: Missing Menu Items
Hi,
Just 2 days ago I installed LM KDE 4.7.3 using APT (Mint 12)
Looks fine to me.. you said that you have 4.7.2. Do you wanna try 4.7.3?
Everything seems ok to me, except that twice it has crashed, but that may be due to the tweaks I did from GNOME. Not sure.

Re: How to open command line (CLI) terminal?
Thanks Albert. Yes, I do appreciate that "terminal" is just a search string to locate an application/tool. I just got too specific about the search string itself.
So that means I have landed up with the right interface to type linux commands i.e. uxterm ?
Thanks Guys. Heartily appreciated.
