Re: What version of Darktable in Mint 19.1?

Thanks for taking the time to answer.

I was wondering what the "Flatpack" version with Mint 19.1, I have since found out it is 2.4.2.

I used the PPA and all worked fine. I had backed up the database, restored it to the appropriate folder and Voila.

Re: LM18 / Cinnamon MDM - Changing Login Screen Background

I know I am a bit late to this particular party, but thought someone might find this useful. I have successfully customised the Synergy theme, and it was quite easy. Copy the original Synergy theme to your desktop. It's in usr/share/mdm/themes/html_themes. Rename the folder on the desktop to somethi...

Re: [Solved] Cannot change Imagemagick as default app for PDFs

Thanks for that solution, this problem has been driving me nuts every time I tried to open a PDF. I also made the error of removing imagemagick, only to break cups. The line in ~/.config/mimeapps.list was slightly different, it read image/pdf=display-im6.q16.desktop I remmed it out rather than delet...

Re: Repos for various libraries.

OK thanks for the clarification on the various repos.
the software ended it's development life 2 years ago, so won't go any further forward as far as I know.
I did install the 3.0 packages, but it fails part way through the compile.
It was worth a shot.

Repos for various libraries.

I need to compile a specific piece of software call ircddbgateway. I have successfully compiled this on numerous Linux flavours, including Mint 17.1. However when I try to install the necessary libraries they all fail to load. The libraries in question are wx2.8-headers wx-common libwxgtk2.8-0 libwx...

Yes the sources.list contains the line
deb http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian xenial contrib

I ran the commands as suggested. when I run apt install virtualbox-5.1 I get this message
