Re: my screen is too bright after UP5 (Mate 1.4)

It worked in Caja just like you said! So easy that I feel ashamed. Bless you, Sobrus and ZeroZero! Thank you all, you great users and developers, for LMDE, this wonderful gift to the people!

Re: my screen is too bright after UP5 (Mate 1.4)

Thank you, Sobrus. This might help, I haven't tried that before. Unfortunately, at this moment I am using another PC and I cannot do what you suggest. Just to avoid further unnecessary messages, could you be so kind to tell me how to open Caja and preferences? I was opening Menu preferences before (...

Re: my screen is too bright after UP5 (Mate 1.4)

Great! I needed someone to confirm it was right. Now, in brief, I use correct sources list, I installed the right Mint theme 1.0.8. I only dislike the look of the background when I enter Home folder. I tried to change the theme (I like Mint-X), but the background remained helplessly bright, only the...

Re: my screen is too bright after UP5 (Mate 1.4)

Thank you, Zerozero, but I am still looking for solution. Re: my screen is too bright after UP5 (Mate 1.4)

I have already installed mint theme 1.0.8. I checked, and it was confirmed as the latest available. As far as fonts are concerned, there are no problems at all. It's just the screen, too bright, no contrast.

Re: my screen is too bright after UP5 (Mate 1.4)

Please help me to adjust screen brightness. I repeat: my Desktop is just fine, but when I open Home folder and Documents, there is no contrast at all. No problems with fonts, all clear and legible, but it's that whiteness of the background that I need to change.

my screen is too bright after UP5 (Mate 1.4) [solved]

After the successful update to UP 5 in Mate environment, my screen has become too bright. There was a delicate grey touch before, and now it's gone. Please see the picture. There are no problems with fonts, I just don't know how to get some contrast to my screen. I have tried to change several theme...

Re: Ctrl + Super shortcut for MintMenu not working

Sorry, I just found a simple solution to my problem: right click on menu, open preferences, set down what I want, then close preferences, then Logout and Login. And that's it, now I can open Menu bar with single press on Super_L (or Win key). Well done to LMDE!

Re: Ctrl + Super shortcut for MintMenu not working

The double-tap did not work for me. Here is what I got in terminal: rudar@rudarlmde ~ $ sudo apt-get install python-keybinder [sudo] password for rudar: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done python-keybinder is already the newest version. The follow...

Re: LMDE works fine!!!

I cannot agree more. I've been using LMDE with Mate (UP 4) since May and I am perfectly satisfied. Only one question: how can I open Menu bar with the keyboard? The <Super> key remains unused and this is the only key that, apparently, remains useless. I tried several combinations, read some previous...

a text search application

I am looking for a text search tool, for .doc and PDF format. I've been using Recoll until now, but it is not precise enough. Could you recommend me something else? Thank you.

Re: Update Pack 5 release date?

Look, Inoki, there are many users on this site who are concerned with the same problem like you, i.e. waiting for the new UP and complaining why is it so slow to come. Just take a look at other topics. But it is a fact that Mint developers are doing the best they can to help us. They deserve the cre...

Re: Update Pack 5 release date?

Well, Inoki, why don't you return to Windows then? LMDE is definitely stable enough and it is an excellent OS. Besides, even Ubuntu and Fedora, let alone Debian, are much better choice than Windows. If you prefer Windows, it's up to you. I only hope that the vast majority of us will remain loyal to ...

Re: Firecox access issue on new 12 KDE install

I use LMDE MATE 64bit and yesterday I had exactly the same problem when trying to open Yahoo! Mail. It was simply impossible to open it. I hope it was either a temporary malfunction, or someone experienced should advise us what to do.

Re: how to open HTML.doc and epub.doc in LMDE

I have found the solution. Instead of trying to open my documents in .html format with Mozilla Thunderbird Mail/News, which was given as default, I opened it easily with simple Firefox Web Browser. I forgot to check the option 'Open with'. Sorry! It's all fine now.

Re: D link DWA-123 in LMDE

Thank you for your answer. Unfortunately, my device (DWA-123) is not listed there, they only include DWA-125, and I know from my previous similar attempt with Mint 11 that it is definitely not the same. I am puzzled that it works fine with Ubuntu-Kubuntu 12.04 LTS, as well as with Mint 12 (Lisa). Pe...

Re: D link DWA-123 in LMDE

One addition to my previous message: I have just checked and D-link DWA-123 works just fine with Mint 12. Is it possible that the new LMDE 64-bit edition uses older kernel than Mint 12 Lisa??
