Re: How to turn off screen saver

Hello, kilowatt2.

On Mint 19.1 Cinnamon, you can use the graphical task manager gnome-system-monitor. Locate the process named cinnamon-screensaver. Right-click on its name and select "Terminate". Done.
Or you use the terminal command killall screensave instead.

Re: Linux Mint bar in Firefox

Hello, chazb. Is this what you call the Linux Mint bar, the (favourite) bookmark icon-bar right below the URL address bar? Cf. screenshot from my Firefox below. https://abload.de/img/ffapp_window_topwuk7i.png (click screenshot to enlarge. press <alt><cursor left> to return here.) The bookmark icon-b...

Re: Check Integrity of the Medium fails, not possible to install

Hello, beast_regards. I am pretty confident that the downloaded ISO image file is intact, because it has passed the sha256 check. So the problem with the live system failing its self check may be introduced e.g. by the application which you use to create the Linux Mint live system from the ISO file,...

Re: <SOLVED> Timeshift won't open

Hi, aaron92. Great that you managed to make Timeshift work by following gm10's advice. :D ~~ Let me give the launcher command nonetheless, found in the file /usr/share/applications/timeshift-gtk.desktop : timeshift-launcher As simple as that. timeshift-launcher is a wrapper script, which comp...

Re: Timeshift won't open

Hi, aaron92. I see. Give me some time to check the Timeshift launcher file on Mint 19.2. It holds the commandline which will be executed, after you have clicked on the "Timeshift" item in the Mint application menu. It is this commandline, which you should try in a terminal window, and find out which...

Re: How to remove Intrusive ads on Android

This time I have to agree to MrGrimm's point of view explicitly. Keeping your Android phone or tablet clean is not as simple as only installing clean apps, because e.g. apps may pull in "additional functionality" later on. And again and again apps make their way into the app store although they hold...

Re: Timeshift won't open

Hello, aaron92. Welcome to the Linux Mint forum. :) About your Timeshift problem: About your commandline sudo timeshift-gtk : Never ever launch graphical applications with root privileges by prefixing sudo to the command! This is asking for trouble. What happens if you launch Timeshift from the Mint...

Re: Linux Mint 19 logo at startup disappeared after kernel update

As I understand it carum carvi talks about the Linux Mint logo with the dotted line, where the dots toggle from white to green and back to white. This is the boot splash screen which is displayed after the Grub menu has closed (in case the Grub menu has been displayed) and before the graphical login...

Re: Disappointing experiences installing Linux Mint 19.2 and 19.1

Hello, migoliv. Welcome to the Linux Mint forum. :) I do understand your frustration and disappointment, because installing Mint 19.1 and Mint 19.2 in the end failed, because the grub-installer failed to install Grub in the MBR of the sdxc card. I admit I do not understand why. I have installed 2 di...

OK, dear folks. The root cause has been found and eliminated. The root cause was not on the Linux Mint side this time. Be happy and enjoy iCloud mail on Linux Mint. Thank you very much to all those, who participated in this thread. To those who identified the root cause of the reported issue. And to...

Re: Bug reporting for iCloud mail.

Hello, Bara-Bus. Please, verify again that in your case, saving sent messages to "Sent" has not been disabled by accident. The other reason why mails, which you have sent, do not appear in the "Sent" folder or at least not in a timely fashion is this: They may have got stuck in the "Outgoing" folder...

Hello, Upton. I am sure that your Update Manager has been configured to display both columns "Old version" and "New Version". Therefore, it will be a trivial task for you to post an Update Manager screenshot which illustrates the problem that you have just reported. Needless to remind you to make su...

Re: "Low Disk Space" (root filled by logs)

But I have got a doubt or two that ufw managed to make the 2 logfiles "explode". ufw logging is "on (low)" here, and the 2 files have never exceeded a few MB's, before the daily logrotate job came along and gzipped them.

Re: Bug reporting for iCloud mail.

Hello, Shiratori.

Thank you very much for testing and reporting the results. :)
Did you ever have to enable an option to "save a copy of sent messages in the Sent folder"? I mean is this behaviour configurable?

Regards,
Karl

Hallo, Hanisch. Re: "Low Disk Space" (root filled by logs)

Hello, stringray. There always is a(n unpleasant) reason when logfiles like /var/log/syslog and /var/log/kern.log grow extremely fast and to enormous sizes. More likely than not, one or several errors keep on being logged over and over again in very short intervals. The solution is twofold: To retur...

Dear Bara-Bus. Very narrow minded help on this post! Whoever sits in the glass house should not throw stones. It works fine on iPad. Called Apple they have said issue is with Linux. What do you expect from an Apple supporter. iCloud has been designed (primarily) to support Apple devices and Apple so...

Re: Krusader startet nicht im Systemverwaltungsmodus

Hallo, Hanisch. Dann ...
