Re: Installer doesn't detect Windows 10

Hi, Keff. Not too amazing that you did not understand the solution in that old thread : no solution had been given and confirmed. So instead of spending time on a 2 year old unsolved thread, please, explain + what precisely you are trying to achieve + which problems precisely you encounter Give as m...

Re: Systemback Alternative for LM 18?

Hello, fullmoonguru. The answer may be found in the announcement, New Features in Linux Mint 18.3 Cinnamon . Section "Backup Tools". The same applies to Mint 18.3 Mate, Cinnamon, xfce, KDE. So upgrading to Mint 18.3 may be worthwhile. Just wait for your Mint Update Manager to offer the &qu...

Hello, rlwa32. Please, get the Official Linux Mint 18 User Guide . It might prove helpful with other questions as well. :) In order to understand why mintupdate (in the default configuration(s)) will not list all available upgrade software packages, please, go the the chapter about "Update your...

Re: How to install with manual partitioning

SoapyMint, you are free to shoot your own foot. Nonetheless let me tell you that filenames, foldername, mountpoint names (which are foldernames indeed), enclosing space characters are a good way of making life more complicated. Let go of such Windowish vices. So you might name the mount point /disk2...

Re: Wifi signal very poor after new Linux install

I am amazed.
Does the analysis of any technical issue not start with the screen output of the terminal command

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxz
I wonder a bit how it should possible to start talking about (wifi) hardware and (wifi) drivers, without having a basic overview of the hard- and software configuration?

Re: Looking for a pre-installed app in cinnamon

gnome-system-log But xorg.conf is by default not on the list of files which gnome-system-log will display, because it is not a logfile. Yet, as it is a pure text file (configuration file), it would be possible to navigate xorg.xonf and add it to the list of files which gnome-system-log displays on ...

Re: How do you tell what programs are currently running?

Hi, flatiron. Unless you are using a KDE desktop, where the application has got a different name that I have forgotten, on Cinnamon gnome-system-monitor, on Mate mate-system-monitor and on xfce task-manager, should come pre-installed with your system. And they should be easily spotted in the Mint ap...

Hello, majpooper. I agree, I do not see any relation between deleting a launcher for the printer from the desktop and the unresponsive panel icons, either. But who knows? You wrote that the lady shut down and rebooted her printer. Has she also tried logging off from the graphical desktop and logging...

Salut, [im-lost]. Il faut abandoner Linux Mint 16 Petra et installer Linux Mint 17.3 (supporté jusqu'à 04/2019) ou Linux Mint 18.3 (supporté jusqu'à 04/2021). Cf. Linux Mint Releases and Life Cycles. Re: Synaptic Gsmart failure

Hi, stanley82.

Well, the 3 error messages all talk about Temporary failure resolving 'archive.ubuntu.com'. So it was just a temporary technical problem, which either fixed itself, or some system administrator somewhere pushed the right button to correct the resolution problem.

Cheers,

Re: Mystery Account

Hello, Ozo.

May I politely ask what your problem / question is? And where is the mystery that your thread title promised?
I suppose that account details will only be displayed in case you have entered any details under User and Groups, i.e. more than loginname and password.

Hello, weinbefe. You have to specify the name of the downloaded ISO image file as well, else shasum does not know which data to process. shasum -a 256 /path/to/linuxmint-18.3-cinnamon-64bit.iso Note: /path/to/linuxmint-18.3-cinnamon-64bit.iso is only a placeholder and has to be replaced by the corre...
