Re: How evolution-alarm-notify gets iPhone calendar reminder data?

I'm happy with the feature, but what concerns me, is that I have never configured this by myself, which makes me wonder on how this feature on my Linux Mint OS is gaining my iPhone calendar information without me knowing it ever being enabled?!?! Could it be that you configured your iPhone and your...

Re: sudo apt-get update error

Who can truthfully pretend to know all the nicknames of Mint/Ubuntu pairs by heart? Yet, there is the webpage Linux Mint Releases . For the supported Linux Mint releases, you can look up the nickname pairs in the columns (Mint) CODENAME and (Ubuntu) PACKAGE BASE. :D (For this reason and for some mor...

Re: sudo apt-get update error

Hello, ginaspur. Err:10 https://archive.getdeb.net/ubuntu wily-getdeb Release Use software sources and remove the "getdeb" repository. "getdeb" has been dead for 2 or 3 years now. Just a re-assuring remark: Mint 19.3 tricia is based on Ubuntu 18.04 bionic . So these 2 go together. No issue with tric...

Re: Permission denied to create file using "cat"

The error is caused by a null input. cat > file1 is invalid because the source is null so it's expecting data from standard input. Actually this had been my first thought as well. But sometimes the first thought is incorrect. The command cat > file1 , executed in my home directory, on which I have ...

Re: Errors with Kernel Update - Low disk space on "boot"

And a good piece of news on regularly cleaning up obsolete kernels: Starting with Linux Mint 19.2, the Update Manager can be configured to uninstall obsolete kernels from your system in regular intervals. The relevant setting can be found and enabled in Update Manager fa-arrow-right Edit fa-arrow-r...

Re: Errors with Kernel Update - Low disk space on "boot"

Great. :) You should check every once in a while how many kernels are installed on /boot. Reason: In other cases a software update will overwrite the existing previous software version on the filesystem. Result: Occupied disk space is likely to remain almost the same as before. Kernel updates, howev...

Re: Failing to install a newer version of Thunderbird

Hello, user3636. There is definitely nothing on Linux Mint, which prevents you from installing the genuine Mozilla Thunderbird, packaged as a .tar.bz2 archive file and downloaded from the Thunderbird download server. I wonder a bit why you followed an instruction for Firefox, and not the genuine Thu...

Re: Cinnamon will not launch

Hello, rsail. Welcome to the Linux Mint forum. :) Our main topic is Linux Mint, not (so much) Ubuntu, definitely not Windows 10. And even more definitely our focus is not running Ubuntu on the Windows 10 Linux sub-system with the Cinnamon desktop. This does not necessarily mean that no forum user ma...

Re: Errors with Kernal Update - Low disk space on "boot"

Low disk space on "boot" The volume on "boot" has only 0 bytes disk space remaining Use Update Manager => View => Linux Kernel: Uninstall all older kernels. Leave untouched: the currently loaded kernel plus the previous kernel. This should free enough space on /boot. (Hopefully, unless it has been ...

Re: Changing the Desktop Trash Bin icon

This is, what bendipa did. He simply renamed 2 SVG files from .svg to .png. At least this is what he tells.
I would have expected that the 2 files have to be converted from SVG format to PNG format.
But bendipa did not convert them, just renamed them.

Re: Changing the Desktop Trash Bin icon

Hello, miinck.

You did not follow the steps, which bendipa explained in this post, carefully enough.
In particular the filenames in your case still have go the extension .svg, but the Mint-Y theme uses files, which are .png.
Go through benipa's steps carefully once again.

Hi, Praveen. The genuine Mozilla Firefox 82.0, downloaded and installed from the Mozilla .tar.bz2 archive file, will create an empty new user profile. Yet, you can persuade this genuine Mozilla Firefox 82.0 to use your existing Firefox user profile instead. (If you want to. Once a user profile has b...

Re: Firefox update breaks profile settings

Newest update of 82.0 (64-bit) leaves some of important profile settings gone. Hm. In case other Mint users should confirm so, then the problems are not caused by genuine Mozilla Firefox 82.0, I'd say. Reason: Since 15 min. roughly I have been using Firefox 82.0, and I cannot reproduce/see any of s...
