Re: What does "afar" stand for in the context of subtitles?

Hi, MintyO.

Try to google for "acronym afar". Limits the returned hits substantially. Yet, none of the found acronyms really rang a bell with me. Might be different if you look at the same list of acronyms.

Re: No space left on /boot

Hello, moore.bryan. Please, run the df command again and post the complete screen output which it generates. This should be helpful in finding out which filesystem is 95% full. You might also resort to the application baobab which can be used to determine how much disk space is used where exactly. R...

Re: Firefox: Connection is not secure

You are sure? Right clicking on your avatar, selecting "copy image address" gives me an http: address, not an https: address. :?
Doing the same on my own avatar will return an https: address.

Re: Openjdk/Iced Tea update 7u131-2-6-9 : Safe to deploy?

Hello, expat_tony. Actually, if you accept an install an unauthenticated software package, chances are - however small they may be - you get a software package which is not the genuine one. The openjdk software packages originate from the Ubuntu software repositories. So authentication should always...

Re: Synaptic Package Manager won't open

Apparently Synaptic won't open if if the OS is not completely up to date. I would be really suprised if this were the case. After all on Ubuntu Synaptic can be used to determine the list of available software updates and to install these updates. (i.e. you launch Synaptic on a system which is not c...

Hi, Natahn.

How about trying the DVD in a different computer?
How have you burnt the ISO image to the DVD? In case you have not burnt the ISO image file "as an image" then the DVD is not bootable.
