Re: Mystery Account

Hello, Ozo.

May I politely ask what your problem / question is? And where is the mystery that your thread title promised?
I suppose that account details will only be displayed in case you have entered any details under User and Groups, i.e. more than loginname and password.

Regards,
Karl

Re: -bash: sha256sum: command not found; verify ISO, Integrity check, v18.3

Hello, weinbefe. You have to specify the name of the downloaded ISO image file as well, else shasum does not know which data to process. shasum -a 256 /path/to/linuxmint-18.3-cinnamon-64bit.iso Note: /path/to/linuxmint-18.3-cinnamon-64bit.iso is only a placeholder and has to be replaced by the corre...

Re: How to update applets with bash, cron, or console command ?

Hello, CalvinHobbes. Could you please reveal which Linux Mint edition you are using and which desktop environment? The terminal command inxi -Sx will tell both. Please, post the screen output of this terminal command. You might also explain a bit more in detail which applets you wish to update autom...

Re: Wireless connection on Mint 18.3 (solved)

Hello, beacon. I found the solution in returning to the 2016 post you cite, and I would be glad to point out the connection for others if I knew how to do it. Actually, linking to the thread is easy. You open the thread from 2016. In the browser addressbar there is the complete URL to the thread. Yo...

Re: Wireless connection on Mint 18.3

Hi, beacon. Great you have solved the wireless problem, resorting to JeremyB's advice from 2016. [...] Finally, I did a fresh install of LM18.3 [...] and went back to the immeasurably helpful help that Jeremy B provided in dealing with the matter a year ago. I went through all of his suggestions unt...

Re: Playing videos

[...] Perhaps the best starting point for troubleshooting your system is an inxi -Fxz report, created on your Linux Mint 18.3 system, which may or may not give a hint on potential problems with the video driver in use. [...] The inxi report can be found in the "Wireless problem" thread >>...

Re: Swap past limit

But how do i "fix" that glitch. You cannot. All you can do is wait till a bug-fixed version will be released in the official software repositories. Should i deactivate swap and remove it then reformat it? Throwing out the baby with bath water?! - It is a display problem, nothing more. - L...

Code: Select all

sudo tar -xvf /complete/path/to/tar.gz.file.tar.gz -C /var/lib/boinc-client/rake.boincfast.ru_rakesearch

Note:
/complete/path/to/tar.gz.file.tar.gz is a placeholder and has to be replaced by the real path- and filename.

Hello, Hugo. Welcome aboard just to blame us for being incompetent. Question only is who is "you"? We are Linux Mint users and forum members. We can suggest steps to solve a problem, provided such steps are known. But changing Linux Mint components, in particular proprietary third party vi...

Re: Wireless connection on Mint 18.3

Hi, beacon. Please, post the requested inxi -Fxz screen output, so that we have a concise overview on how Linux Mint 18.3 "sees" your hardware. The same inxi report would come in handy in your other ongoing thread, Play videos , as well. - Run inxi once, use it twice. Regards, Karl

Re: Playing videos

Hi, beacon. I do not know whether you have followed thx-1138's advice to make sure that mint-meta-codecs are present on your Linux Mint 18.3. I do not know whether they will be needed or not to view the videos on independent.co.uk. In my case, it simply looks like PaleMoon 27.6.2 has lost this round...

Moved the technical posts about the wireless problem where they belong, in beacon's thread here:

Will move this thread to "Chat", because it is more of a rant about us lazy forum users.
