Re: Wine doesn't appear on my menu

Well ... thanks for this, I didn't even know a Linux version existed - installed and linked already. Thank you. I have now managed to get Wine in my menus, but the list of installable apps is very limited ... I guess I'm missing out on something here, as I would have thought a browse/file/install op...

Re: Wine doesn't appear on my menu

Synaptic Package Manager tells me that it is installed ... but it doesn't appear anywhere on my system.

Home/User has nothing that indicates Wine at all in the file manager (even with view hidden files flagged)

Re: WINE:

Hi, That's how I originally installed it - the stable version. Software Manager gives me the option to either Launch or Remove, yet it doesn't show in the all applications section of the menu, and even searching menu does not show it. In Software Manager, clicking Launch doesn't do anything either. ...

Wine doesn't appear on my menu

Okay, Second question for a newbie. Trying to install Wine (to run some simple Win apps- especially Treepad) and it doesn't appear on my menu anywhere. Not sure if I have installed the correct packages, but I did see that I need to have 32 bit enabled also. Wine HQ suggests using terminal, but I get...

Re: Applets/Shortcuts:

Oh cheers, thanks for all of that. I'll go with the right click options for now, and work through some of the things you have suggested. Seem to remember my last trip to Mint (12 or 13 I believe) I ended up "breaking" the start menu and losing everything I'd worked on. My needs are fewer now, just c...

Re: Applets/Shortcuts:

Cinnamon I believe. A couple of other quick questions too on layout/customising - how do I make the fonts/menus smaller in the start menu (similar feel to Win XP's menu) and how do I get app windows to remember size/position? Is there a general setting for this or is it app specific? And yes, it's g...

Applets/Shortcuts:

Hi all, After three frustrating and tearful weeks trying to get my Win 8.1 machine working again (and failing through nine reinstalls and resets) I finally gave up and switched my machine to Mint, which is somewhere I was about six years ago. My, a lot has changed, but at least it works (I will miss...

Making WINE executable:

Hi, Used to run Mint 8 on my desktop, and everything was fine. As I got a new Windows laptop for work a couple of years ago my Mint use dwindled. However, I installed Mint 10 a few weeks ago and I've been mainly using it for music and video. Now I want to do other stuff and I'm having problems. I us...

Re: Could not resolve ‘archive.ubuntu.com’

Well, there's a bonus. Originally I was using Mint 8 Helena, and I could not get my 3 Dongle to work. Just plugged it into my upgraded Mint 10 and it works wonderfully well. Thanks guys, you must have put that ability in one of the updates somewhere. However, I am still having problems downloading t...

Could not resolve ‘archive.ubuntu.com’

Hi, I run Windows on my laptop and have just installed Mint 10 (Julia) on my desktop PC. My internet connection is via a 3 Wireless Dongle, this isn't recognised by Mint so all my package updating is done by downloading via the laptop and transferring across. I'm trying to install the bulk of KDE ap...
