Re: [mint 18 KDE] home folder gone???
I feel as of I'm almost there. The permissions seem to work but I still do not have a taskbar and a window manager. Do you have the taskbar, etc when you log in as a different user? Yes I have, actually the idea of deepakdeshp is great! When I created a new user, everything is/was working fine exce...

Re: Linux Mint 18 No Ethernet available.
I have the same problem... Only I have not a notebook (Actually I do but not a Dell) nor a Hell... Uh... Dell. Disable IPV6 works only temporary. After a while it is coming back... I'm testing Mint 18 KDE BETA at the moment but since it contains the same my hope on better networking is slim... [edit...

Re: [mint 18] No internet!
Go into Network Manager and change IPv6 seting to ignore and see if that fixes the issue, your syslog says ClamAV is outdated There is an alternative to the kernel module for your ethernet card, it is called r8168-dkms and is available on the repos Whoopsie, forgot about that. This was a problem ea...

[mint 18] No internet!
Hi all, Since this install of Mint 18 I have problems with my internet. It seems the IPv4 gets lost. Normally when I do a "ifconfig" then I see this: enp2s0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 1c:6f:65:2d:f1:c6 inet addr:192.168.178.12 Bcast:192.168.178.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 inet6 addr: 2001:1c01:...

Re: Server or desktop
Actually, i have read in the past that installing a DE on top of a server is bad because you open up vulnerabilities.
But you have a point there, a server is likely a target for an hacker.
I will read you link as it contains much info and i could learn from it, thanks!

Re: Server or desktop
I disagree here. Windows very much deciding your choices is a "BIG GOING ON". Servers traditionally don't have desktops. I only play LOL (League Of Legends) on windows and have contact with a friend during these games since we play together. Things like e-mail and such I check on my mobil...

Re: Apt-get broken?
Thank you! It is solved.
But how does this work? I assumed it was apt but the interface is not perfect. And more important, why is it happening?
Many thanks again!

Mint KDE 17.3 won't reactivate
Hi all, I do not know if this is a bug or not but this is happening. When I leave the computer, the screen dims down. Now yesterday I had to go for shopping which is more than 40 min, so after 30 minutes the screen goes from 100% to 50% and so on. So I came back and wanted to reactivate the screen b...

Re: No dual boot choice Win7/ Mint 17.2
I don't want to poke anything or bear but if you want a dual boot you can also try easyBCD from NeoSmart. I say this because I had this problem. I wanted to install an update of Windows 7 which did not work. After some long research I found out that one of the updates needs the bootloader of windows...
