Re: Low performance of Cinnamon with AMD RV630 / Radeon HD 2

i am telling you to install mint 13 maya cinnamon and and if you can, you can install gnome shell. give gnome-shell a chance for at least one week and i tell you that you will fall in love with it. but the main advantage in mint 13 LTS is that you can install proprietary driver for your card. Re: Extremely low performance of Cinnamon desktop.

your video card is not supported anymore by linux. you better go for W7 and install proprietari driver to get maximun performance for your machine.

Re: Is Linux Socialistic?

i can say that socialism is a cancer for human race. i am from Romania and i know what i am talking about. but now that i found that the founder of linux is a communist, i am more willing to see this OS as a bad option. an OS driven by a communist, no way! in the communist regime, the whole country ...

Re: Flashplayer doesn't work for youtube, etc.

as i told you before, your ATI RV515 is an old card. it is not supported by proprietary driver anymore. your only option is for open-source driver. put the output of command "glxinfo" i strongly say to you to use the OS witch fits better on your machine, in your case, is windows 7. i am in the same ...

Re: Flashplayer doesn't work for youtube, etc.

so, lets face it, your video card is pretty old. you dont have support for linux anymore. sorry to say that.
the only chance to use that card in a proper way is to get rid of linux and install w vista or 7 and install proprietary driver from amd.

Re: Flashplayer doesn't work for youtube, etc.

forget about chrome, it has backdoors and illuminati can get some data from your computer. in the end, they gonna grab you and throw you in jail.

i am joking man, use chrome all the way, it is the only way to have the latest flash player.

Re: Cannot boot Linux after deleting windows partition

you better get a W vista DVD and install vista. call to microsoft and they will tell you if you can activate vista with your serial code.
and then, from windows, with the help from easyBCD you can install grub on mint partition.

Re: I'm seriously considering switching to Linux Mint....

i am not saying that is not working, i am saying that the performance is way behind the proprietary driver in windows. let's face the fact. i have an ati x1270 on my laptop and the sVideo output doesnt work anymore in linux, 2 or 3 weeks ago it worked.....but not always. in w7, due to the proprieta...

Re: Cinnamon!

to be honest, i have a feeling that community holds a grudge to gnome-shell not because it is a bad DE but because it is supported by a big company like red hat. i am not a fan of a certain DE, i am using both gnome shell and a kde-like one (W7, you know what i'm saying). but i want a DE to be very ...

Re: Death of LMDE Xfce

@geneC thanx man that you confirm my opinion. mate and cinnamon are quite useless projects due to the fact that xfce already exists. so if you want a light DE, you use xfce and if you want a modern DE you have gnome-shell. THAT IS IT! instead on focusing on new apps, better tools, better video drive...

Re: Cinnamon!

if you would force yourself to use the gnome-shell for one or two week you will find it very intuitive and productive, especially for a laptop with touchpad.
but nooooooo....we expect that gnome 2 to remain as it is for a lifetime: a boring primitive DE, way behind the xxi century.

Re: I'm seriously considering switching to Linux Mint....

switching to linux is a bad idea for your machine due to the ATI poor video driver for linux. my honest advise is to stick to windows. if you already have a valid licence of W7, there is no point to go to linux. so, you can install linux mint 13 or 14 cinnamon 64bits "alongside windows"...you give i...

Re: Cinnamon!

dont tell me that a company like cannonical would not like to have at least 10% of the market. do you realize what that the 10% means? means that nVidia, AMD, Broadcom and many other hardware manufacturers would make proprietary drivers with the same quality as they make for windows. it would be ver...

Re: Cinnamon!

i am pretty sure that if we would have 100 DE on the market, the market will be split to thease 100 DE....but will they be stable? you need to understand that a DE is a framework and has to be very stable. in the end, you dont sit in front of the computer and stare at the desktop. you use some apps....
