Re: Odd font error in one app
Timeshift is not an option. I don't do a dist upgrade. My /home directory is in another partition so I do a full install with wipe on the / partition. The next time I do this, I'm going to move the entire /home to another location and do a full wipe/reinstall then move things back but that doesn't h...

Odd font error in one app
Hi all, I have been using Telekast for my teleprompter for many years in Linux Mint. With the latest install (20.1 Mate), I am experiencing a weird font error both in the menu bar and in the actual display. I have tried installing a bunch of fonts and installing chrome (telekast seems to use chrome ...

Re: Mint-Y-Dark cursor color change?
Ignore my last reply. Adwaita and DMZ-White both work perfectly. Thank you. I would never have thought that the pointer would have affected the text cursor.

You realize I'm talking about the text cursor, not the mouse pointer, right?

Re: Mint-Y-Dark cursor color change?
The command appears to work, but it doesn't change anything for the problem.

In this screenshot, I am renaming a file. The cursor is between the a and o in cao. I would like to make the cursor black.

Mint-Y-Dark cursor color change?
Hi all,
I am using the Mint-Y-Dark theme on my laptop and when I'm in Caja and want to rename a file, the text cursor is so light in colour that it is almost impossible to see. How can I change the colour of the cursor?
Thanks!

Re: 19.3 XFCE broken after suspend. How to fix?
Unfortunately, timeshift was not yet setup. The install was only a day old. It is possible for me to do a full reinstall without losing much but I'd rather fix it.

19.3 XFCE broken after suspend. How to fix?
Hi all, I installed Linux Mint 19.3 XFCE on an old laptop to use as a nextcloud server. Once I had everything setup, I went into power management and told it to blank the screen when the cover was closed, and thats it. Then I closed to cover. To my horror, it went into sleep mode. When I opened the ...

Linux Mint 20 Mate - Window decorations don't show on initial login
Hey all, I had a new install of Linux Mint Mate 20 that was working fine until one of the recent updates. Now, on initial login, no windows have the top row of decorations (window title, minimize, maximize, close). If I go into Menu->Preferences->Desktop Settings, and change to any other window mana...

Window Manager partial failure on boot
Good morning all, I have done the latest updates to Mint 20 Mate an I've noticed now that on boot I have some rendering issues. Skype starts automatically but it is missing the minimize/maximize/close icons in the top-right. Any new windows I open, like Firefox, are also missing these. I can correct...

python-espeak dependancy?
Hi all,
After updating to Linux Mint 20 Mate, I have an installation deb that I cannot install because it has an unmeetable dependency on python-espeak>=0.3. Python3-espeak 0.5-2build1 is available in the channel but doesn't seem to trigger as the dependency. How can I solve this?
Thanks!

freehdl - qucs - segfault fix?
Hi all, I've been playing with qucs for several years and used it seriously through my 4 year BEng but I never had any serious use for digital simulation. With the latest versions I have not been able to get even the simplest digital simulation to run and I have narrowed it down to the freehdl-v2cc ...

As a follow-up, in order to get the scripts working, you need to change the script files to work with Linux mint as documented here Basically you change the #!/bin/sh to #!/bin/bash in all the scripts

Hi all, I'm just going to document here the steps I had to go through to install Lattice iCEcube2 in Linux Mint 19.1 MATE as I pieced it together from several places: 1. Register on the page and download the Lattice iCEcube2 installer from here . 2. Download the libpng12-0 i386 installer deb from he...

MDM occasional segfault on boot?
Hi all, I've been noticing lately that the login manager occasionally doesn't show up. Rather than the nice photo background I'm used to, I instead get the black screen with a little login window. Everything still works fine, but I thought I'd post it here to see if anyone knows what the trouble is....
