Re: Where is my VPNC?
Just installed OpenVPN on Mint 14 (32 bit) using software manager but there's no GUI. Guess I'll keep looking for alternative client software. Maybe Shrewsoft? https://www.shrew.net/software I just need to be able to connect to my office's VPN sometimes. Usually crucial, time-sensitive times. But i...

Re: LM16 Petra RC-KDE: No Update Manager?
Hello, Yesterday I installed the 32-bit DVD version after MD5 check was confirmed. Installation was fine. I notice yesterday and today that when I boot into LM, the Update Manager (UM) icon shows up in the task bar. However, after I enter password for UM, nothing happens. This is unlike LM16 Cinnam...

Re: Does Petra RC upgrade to the real thing?
I can tell you, on my computer, the LM 16 KDE RC is as good as a final. It can't get much better than it is. I'm really happy I went early this time. :D Happily running LinuxMint 15 KDE, but am interested in installing the new version 16 RC. Seems the final version will be quite 99% same as the RC.

Re: Can't access internet (DNS problem?)
yep, everything's fine here. Nevertheless, if you experiment again issue with DNS only (meaning every kind of ping works out, but google doesn't works in firefox saying Unknown host) then check around resolvconf.
Check /etc/resolv.conf
Debug tool : nslookup, or dig

Re: Where is my VPNC?
Oh! It's command line only. Ok, I tried the terminal and it asked for my password and then IPSec gateway address. So it seems to work. Great. That problem is solved, thanks! Is it easy to use? Do I just follow the steps and enter the info? Do I have to enter the info every time? Is there another GU...

Re: XDMCP at mint 15
Yes XDMCP has been removed from MDM. Consider X11 forwarding, VNC, or even NoMachine to access your remote system.gravitalsun wrote:I have install mint 16 x64 cinnamon , and now the situation is even worst.
it seems that the xdmcp have completely gone ... pitty.

Re: stop/kill iwlwifi please
Add iwlwifi to modprobe 's blacklist : located in /etc/modprobe.d./blacklist.conf
Add this line :
blacklist iwlwifi.
It shouldn't bother you anymore

Re: Where is my VPNC?
TIP : to figure out what files a package could have installed , run dpkg -L <package>.
So I figure out about vpnc there's a 'vpnc' executable file, but also 'pcf2vpnc' and cisco-decrypt. Don't know what for by the way.... Hope that's help.

Hhi
I'll make the assuption you have installed vpnc package. This is a command line only package, don't really know if there's a GUI out there.
So, try this :
sudo vpnc
in a terminal window

EDIT: Also you should check your router (dhcp server). It stores the leases for a period of time, and may get confused when it receive a request for a dhcp address with same MAC but different PC name. Ther are 2 options; either you log in into your router and delete the windows PC from you dhcp ser...

Re: difficulty logging into the forums
Lately I have been having difficulty logging-in to the forums. When I log-in, my name is shown at the foot of the page, among those present—but if I attempt to start a new thread, or post a reply (or even see my own posts) I am asked to log-in again. If I log-in again, problem usually repeats, but ...

Re: "Sorry, user .. is not allowed to execute ... as root"
ah un détail : pour éditer le fichier en question, tu peux devenir root comme ceci :
su -
Par défaut sous Mint, le mot de passe de root est le même que celui du user créé pendant l'installation.

Re: "Sorry, user .. is not allowed to execute ... as root"
