batch partial filename find and replace [SOLVED]
I have a large number of files, which I originally named in the format word_word_word.xxx and I would like to now replace all of the underscores between the words with spaces, so the filenames would then look like word word word.xxx Is it somehow possible to do this on all of the filenames in a fold...

Re: Ethernet sporadically cuts out, requires reboot to fix
I have also been having the same problem for a few weeks now. sudo ifdown -a && sudo ifup -a and also sudo services-network-manager restart , which I came across in a search, do not resolve the problem. Restarting NordVPN does not solve the problem either. Only a complete reboot fixes the pr...

Re: Brother DCP-L2550DW
Yes, connected by usb. Chose no at prompt for URI as instructed by Brother, when using usb. As I said, everything worked right off. Haven't tried anything on wifi though. No use for it here. Everything in the house is on cat6 except for 4 devices, which often run on house's wifi and have no need for...

Brother DCP-L2550DW
I didn't see a recommended list of printers section. Just wanted to put it out there, that I have set up a new DCP-L2550DW using Brother's linux-brprinter-installer-x.x.x-x program and for the first time in my experience everything worked i ncluding the scanner. In the past with earlier versions of ...

Re: Email Client
Also not for me unfortunately. Also on 60.9.0 with fresh 19.2 Mint Cinnamon instl'n. Have tried the as-installed Tbird user profile and have just substituted the profile from backed up Mint 19 Tbird instl'n. Neither will work.

Re: Problems on new installation after encrypting drives
Progress to date: I think I have solved the boot order problem which I found after encrypting my /home. I forgot that I had flashed the mobo to the latest bios, prior to installing Mint 18. I think that is probably where I lost my prior boot order settings. However I am still puzzled by a couple of ...

Problems on new installation after encrypting drives
A few questions about encrypting partitions if I might please. I recently replaced my mint17 with a fresh install of mint18 64bit using "something else" and a newly formatted and encrypted /home on another drive. Various drives with partitions and their backups (spread around in case a dri...

Re: Mint 18 and Brother scanner (Solved)
Thanks observativetiger! In the past I've always installed the lpr, cupswrapper and brscan3 drivers separately using Brother's suggested methods and have had no problems. Hadn't worked though with the new Mint18 64bit cinnamon. Printing no problem but wouldn't recognize scanner. I had already added ...

Re: cannot remove Simple Todo list
That was a messy experience. Tried the command line suggestions but no joy. Finally got it removed after two attempts to reinstall and then remove via synaptic. The process kept hanging at the "configure database" stage. I had been unable to do regular system updates, since the update mana...

cannot remove Simple Todo list
I have been searching for a basic, simple todo list, which I can use to pass todo list info between my LG G2 android phone and my linux mint 17.1 64 bit desktop computer. One of the possible programs I came upon, which I thought might do the trick was the ukolovnik simple todo list program from the ...

Re: Desktop icons disappear but reappear after opening file
I'm still having the same problem as well. Just built another machine and installed mint 16 64bit on it. Doing file transfers from my older, main computer. I'm finding that if I have more than one instance of file manager open to drag and drop files, then even if I wait for a short period after ejec...

Desktop icons disappear but reappear after opening file mana
Weird one. If I open two file manager windows side by side to transfer files, quite often when I close one of the two windows (such as after ejecting a usb stick) the other file manager window will also close and I lose all of the Desktop icons. The Desktop background remains along with the menu bar...
