Re: Desktop Broken

Do you load an ATI driver from the Additional Drivers tool or use from the default build of Mint? Currently running default build. I was originally (before the updates) running the proprietary drivers, but I was having issues with those. I may try out AMD's drivers again and see if there's any impr...

Re: Desktop Broken

Just as a follow up. After formatting, reinstalling, and patching, the majority of the major issues were gone. However, I was still getting constant graphical glitches, and X11 would crash on my constantly. After a little research, I decided to try turning off notifications, and it seems to have don...

Re: Desktop Broken

Well, I would... but it appears I have no access now. System loads to a black screen, and I have absolutely no functionality.

I attempted netroot in order to update / fix any packages, but it claims that I don't have a network connection.

I think I may just resort to a reinstall.

Re: Cinnamon 1.4 Frequently Crashes

Just noticed this thread...

I was having the same issues constantly. Now, however, I've lost all functionality, very similar to one of the regular crashes but immediately when I log in.

ATI card as well.

Re: Desktop Broken

I suppose I should have been more specific about my errors... - I'm running a couple desktop widgets, and they appear to be working fine. - I have a desktop, and have a right-click context menu available to create icons and such. - I have no toolbar to launch applications, view task manager, etc - I...

Desktop Broken

Patched my system last night, and no longer have a desktop.

I've rebooted several times to no avail, and also tried ctrl-alt-backspace and relogged in.

Any suggestions?

Re: Radeon 4450 Visual Problems

It looks like the metacity and x11 patches have at least mitigated the issues. Looks like the issue, or related issues, still exist... but at least the OS is usable now. Thanks to the patcher.

If I knew how to mark this as solved, I would.

Re: Radeon 4450 Visual Problems

Just as an update 12.1 has been released, and it seems to have solved the issue... Or at least its been less noticeable so far. EDIT: I take what I said back... The all menu options stop responding periodically; clicking on already open program tabs opens the wrong program GUI, however the context m...

Re: Radeon 4450 Visual Problems

Great... well maybe I'll sit back and wait for updated drivers.

The problems seem a little less frequent today, so I think I'll stick with the default drivers for the time being.

Thanks for the reply.

<SOLVED> Radeon 4450 Visual Problems

Hello, I've just migrated from Ubuntu 11.04 to LM12, and I'm having a bit of an issue with my graphics card. With the default graphics drivers the system periodically redraw the menus, or occasionally drop to just the background (forcing a restart). With the proprietary AMD drivers installed, I get ...
