Re: ImageWriter
Thank you for the quick response. I have already recreated the partition table with no luck. I think at some point it made me install gpart too. but either way. I have tried multiple angles with now luck. Thumb still shows up as LMDE UP6. Even after I have had "successful" formats to ntfs and fat32....

ImageWriter
I tried using imagewriter (which is installed by default) instead of my usual unetbootin. Well, now I have no "write" access to my thumb drive. I have tried reformating but nothing changes. When plugged in the thumb drive says it is "Linux Mint LMDE" but shows no files. It wont even mount after an u...

Re: Only one CPU core detected.
Yes, the default kernel is the 486. So if you are only running off of the Live then you will only be using the single core. After install, and all updates, go to device driver manager and that is where you can install 686. I am sure there is a way to remastersys an ISO to include the 686 instead of ...

Re: Only one CPU core detected.
You probably have the 486 kernel. Go to Device Driver Manager and see if there is a 686 kernel available. The scan takes a few minutes before it shows the results. After you update to 686 it will use all cores. (From what I know)

Re: my mint is now obsolete! help
HELP!! I've just learned that my version of Mint (11) became obsolete as of November...this explains why I haven't had any updates since then. I have been advised to install a new version. I can't remember how to do this and since I'm obviously not an expert at this....can someone help me with inst...

Re: Nemo Permission
Thank you very much XENO. I ran the two codes you posted and was able to take ownership. However, instead of moving them to a home_old folder or anything like that, i just opening up nemo, browsed to the 2nd drive and then selected open in terminal. Everything seems to be working properly. It was we...

Re: Nemo Permission
I found this topic on this forum: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=110835. But that 2nd drive, is it an external (USB) driver or internal drive? And, if it is an internal drive, is it added to fstab? This is a 2nd internal drive I use for storage. Formated as ext4. Name = "Storage 1...

[SOLVED] Nemo Permission
So I formated a 2nd hard drive via gparted and instantly was unable to read/write to it. I was able to change this with "gksu nemo" and then changing the permissions. No biggy really. I transferred approx 300 gb to the hard drive. After the transferes completed I noticed I was only given the ability...

Re: How to boot LMDE on an UEFI-based pc?
Thanks for the suggestion I'll give it a go and see if it works, for what it's worth I just tried booting the regular LM14 and it does bott just fine, I think they just haven't implemented that code into the debian version or something like that .. Anyone hear/read whether or not EFI/UEFI support w...

Re: 2007 Intel Mac
Well, Since nobody else seems to have a similar question I will provide some input that I have found anyways. After further reading on both the LM forum as well as other forums it seems to be that the problem lies within the boot access. Namely, Grub vs EFI. Macintosh uses a form of EFI to boot thei...

2007 Intel Mac
Hello, I have been using LM09-13 for years on my netbook and PC's but recently I decided to switch my iMac to Linux Mint 13 as well. Everything goes great with the install and works perfectly from live disc, other than having to use an usb wifi dongle to get my wifi to work, but after update I am ab...

Re: 1.6.7: Desktop icons are gone, missing setting in option
Here is the fix for Ubuntu users, do the following. Use dconf-editor and go to org-gnome-desktop-background and tick "Show desktop icons". Not sure if Mint has dconf. Here is the problem, I need to do that every time I turn on the computer. Not the best fix. That sounds like a lot of work. I prefer...

Re: Linux Mint 11 - Detected Printer, yet no printing! HP101
(sorry not a solution) It looks like in your logs, it is asking for authentication. I recently installed MINT13 on two of my computers, networked the folders successfully and sharing the printer from the one. The 2nd computer locates the printer no problem. When I select 'print test page' nothing ha...

Cinnamon LMDE
Just an idea here but, I would love to see an ISO for LMDE Cinnamon. I know this is probably an early request given Cinnamon is in early stages of its existance. Anyone else looking for more Debian editions from Mint? Clem and team has done great work making Ubuntu better, but I think the time will ...
