Re: No sound Dell XPS 9700 SOLVED

Crazy thing now. I had to reinstall Mint the other day, and now all I need to do to get sound working is: sudo apt install linux-oem-20.04 I did disable a few extra items in the BIOS to get S3 working. Either that was a key in fixing the issue, or the recent firmware updates from Mint have something...

Re: I'm no dummy, but my audio is!

Got it working, thanks to the thread above. However, that original script no longer works. I got a reply from the OP that the firmware directories had since been modified, so an adjusted script was provided and it did the trick. No wonder my hours of trying the tips online didn't work. They were out...

Re: No sound Dell XPS 9700

The following two commands... ls -al /usr/lib/firmware/intel/ ls -al /lib/firmware/intel/ ...should both show the two subfolders sof-tplg and sof . I'm attempting to use your script, but I'm not getting 2 folders in those directories. I only see a folder named "sof-tplg-v1.6.1" in each lo...

Re: I'm no dummy, but my audio is!

Thanks for the replies so far. It appears this script does what I've tried to do manually a few times, since this seems to be the guidance I've probably attempted it 3-4 times now, though I could see this script doing a better job than what I can do manually. I can give it a try. I wonder when Mint/...

I'm no dummy, but my audio is! SOLVED

I have a Dell XPS17 9700, and I've spent hours doing all the tips and tricks and sof-driver installs, but alas, I'm stuck on the dreaded Dummy Audio bug. It's a Comet Lake 10300H setup, using Intel audio. I can connect my AirPods via Bluetooth and get audio that way, but I'd like those fancy speaker...

Re: Linux Mint 12 "Lisa" released!

The ugly second icons you see are from a hidden "Debian" menu that only shows up when you view "Applications" under "Activities as your image shows. I had the same thing. What you have to do is to install "Alacarte" (Main Menu menu editor) via Synaptic. Once insta...

Ubuntu 11.10 to Mint 12 and the /home/user folder

Hi all. I've been trying Mint since version 11, and I do find it to be a very nice version of Linux. I'm not a hardcore linux user, but I have managed to get a lot of things going through google searches and forum reads. However, I'm not sure what to do about my recent move from Ubuntu 11.10 to Mint...
