Re: holidays across the pond

I may just have to take one for the team on this, I couldnt live with myself knowing what pain and torture is involved.

So to spare you the misery I will go and endure the living hell, but just remember the beer may be but my soul is not :D

bash or perl??

What is the general opinion on scripting? Do you prefer the good old school bash? Or the newer faster perl? I was having this conversation with a friend the otherday and was curious. I am a bash user normally, never bothered to learn perl as my first senior sys admin said it wasnt as useful. But I h...

holidays across the pond

I am about to embark on a fantastic holiday in the next week, I will be jumping across the pond and landing in New York ready for an adventure. I will only be in the big apple for a few days unfortunately as I am being brutally forced by my loving girlfriend to go to miami for a day before being dra...

Re: Linux Mint 14 RC

I have a nice freshly burn dvd with the new RC sitting on my desk here at work, can't wait to get home and give it a spin! There are of course a few concerns about getting all the packages I frequently use on the new spin, but this is something I can overcome! Really excited about this one, I have t...

Re: A Web Design Lab for novices, Testing area of vets.

Hi Cythes, Sorry for being behind the times on this post just noticed there was a projects part to this forum, I am very interested in this idea. There are of course some platforms like this out there, the one one springing to mind is the Mozilla Thimble which is useful but of course doesnt support ...

touch screen mint?

I am soon to be undertaking a project at home which is going to require a touch screen compatable distro. My plan: build a wall mounted media station using a mini-ATX motherboard, an a nice sized touch screen monitor. All of this will be encased in a nice bit of arcylic and then bolted to my wall :D...

Re: Remaking the (community) website?

Java is a pretty solid language in my opinion but maybe not so much for a website, what you could use java for on the other hand is to have a linux mint forum app for android etc? I dont know about you but I would love to be able to tap into the forums whilst out and about! xda have a cool little ap...

Re: What shall I do next?

Personally if you have such coding experience the world is youroyster (or other words to that effect) I myself am an avid prgrammer, and as much as I like MATE and cinnamon and the options you get to cusomize there desktop envirnoments they seem very old school linux still. If you are good with both...

minty radio?

Recently I have been drawn to the fact that facebook has an app that means you can broadcast your own radio/podcast. This intruigues me! I know the forums are a great place to get advice, and the community is fun, but have the team ever thought of a podcast? Answering questions, updating users etc? ...
