Re: Safely install Windows AFTER installing Linx mint ?

Thanks for the replies. Before I saw them I flipped and I went for it and erased everything, installed fresh updated widows 10, but now it wont let me boot from usb, it just jumps right to windows 10 boot. I have to go into windows first, then set it to boot into boot menu and restart. But since it'...

But my Windows 10 screwed up completely. I had to delete it via Gparted in Linx. Now, how do I reinstall a fresh Windows 10 withou...

But I pasted that code in to the terminal: total used free shared buff/cache available Mem: 7681 1972 455 162 5253 5204 Swap: 7886 0 7886 So it seems I do have swap? Re: Easy to use encryption software?

Thanks for the clear instructions, and also the understanding that many of us do not want to learn the linux terminal language. Your steps were clear, I had another go and encountered no problems. I only have one more question, Instead of having to type: ''Start Tor by running sudo service tor start...

Re: Easy to use encryption software?

Forget it, I'll go back to windows. I will just have to be more careful with my passwords etc in the future
I looked at installing qtox on windows and it is as easy as clicking a mouse.

cheers

Re: Easy to use encryption software?

Have you tried to search in the Software Manager for something relevant like "crypt"? If you have did that you would get as a first result Cryptkeeper: "An encrypted folders manager, it allows users to mount and unmount encfs folders, to change the password and to create new crypted folders. It int...

Re: Easy to use encryption software?

i'm not grizzling I ASKED for a software that requires click to install only, like most people on the planet understand, and not terminal coding just to get basic things working. But now i'm called a grizzler, and I am also given terminal code once again Welcome to the world of linux You don't have...

Thanks for the honesty
I can't argue with that!

It's nice when it works well and it set up.
But the setting up part is the problem

Re: Easy to use encryption software?

Thanks for the reply.
In my experience it is very rarely like clicking a .exe file.

This is a perfect example:
https://www.linuxbabe.com/desktop-linux ... r-on-linux

It's an utter mess

I dread the thought every time I want to install or change anything on linux.

Re: Easy to use encryption software?

It's always implied that it's just as easy as windows
'My gran can use linux' lol
Yea ok

That's the reason that linux has a miniscule user base, even thought it's free.

They dont seem to have discovered mouse clicks yet

What version of Mint am I running?

Hi I am trying to install a few things. I am reading: "Append the following line at the end of the file. Replace codename with your distributions’ codename. For example, Ubuntu 15.10 users need to replace codename with “wily” (without quotes)." I am running Mint Cinnamon 18.2, so what do I have to t...

Re: Easy to use encryption software?

That's fine, but people keep pretending it's easy to use.
But it just isn't unless you learn the terminal language.

I am happy to call it what it is, if people stop pretending what it isn't.

Re: How to run Tor ?I

I've had my paypal stolen and money was spent.
Possible had a 'keystroke' virus.
I've had other issues also.

I was hoping I could just figure out how to get linux 'secure' then not have to fiddle with it anymore.
Even this task seems beyond me lol

How to run Tor ?I

Ii
I am trying to follow instruction online on how to get tor running.

'Install Tor by running sudo apt-get install tor.
Start Tor by running sudo service tor start.''

Very unclear as to HOW to 'Start Tor by running service to start'
