Re: Update your computer!

In my opinion best way to deal update situation is allow people to make they own choises and use default settings for people who don't understand what they are doing. Reason for this is that no-one does know other preoples situations and why they are doing someting. People may have reasons why they ...

Re: nemo insanely slow when many files in directory

This is maybe little bit offtopic the discustion, but it's still about Nemo speed issue. I'm still using old Linux Mint 19.2 Cinnamon, so don't know if this has been fixed. While you can speed up Nemo little bit by disable some features, like counting files in subdirectory or thumbnails and so on. I...

If I choose my local timezone +3 and then use get time from internet, time is UTC after computer is rebooted. Only way to ge...

Re: Mint 18 and very small errors

I have done the new installation (second).
Changed /boot partition from 100MB to 500MB
Also changed / partition from 8GB to 12,5GB, because it seem to pretty full.

No errors anymore, so problem solved. I think /boot partion was too small for what ever initramfs-tools was doing there.

Re: Mint 18 and very small errors

I think my /boot partition 100MB disk space is just too small for initramfs-tools. I don't know what it's, but that's seem to be my source of errors.
So I'm gonna do new installation with little different partion sizes.

Re: What made you switch to Linux Mint?

I switched Linux Mint from Windows XP (tryed for year), so more like from Windows 2000. Reason is very simple, because Windows started too much controll what I can or can't do. Meaning OS designers started to define how the OS should be used and did not give anymore other choise. It was more like so...

Never, but same is with linux. How ever screen (display) has allways worked even without drivers after installation in Windows, same can't sayed with Linux. When I mean worked I mean that you actually see something in dislay, can move mouse and write with keybord. That doesn't mean you can get corr...

Re: First impressions on Mint.

How many MB drivers do you have to install in Linux Mint? How often does the ethernet not work? Never needed MB drivers in Linux and ethernet has allways worked. How ever mouse, keyboard and "display" hasn't allways worked. In Windows installation I have had never situation that mouse, ke...

Re: Microsoft is Doomed

The problem with Windows 8 and Unity is that the interfaces are so different from what people are used to that they are often rejected. But, once you get used to them they are not so bad. Of course, it still comes down to personal preference. Believe it or not, some people did like Vista. While I a...

Re: nettiin kiitos?

Re: Why do you always have to ruin everything?

I think it's good thing that if someones isn't happy with something then they tells what's wrong. Sure messages could be more detailed as what's wrong, but in this case it seem, it's like many small details. Also fixing issues one by one, doesn't fix the real issue, that the problems existed in firs...

Vi editors use keyboard key commands, not like some graphical editor. You can't really move with cursors like normally. Look here the commands... http://www.computerhope.com/unix/uvi.htm Example, move down the line what you want to comment with "down cursor" key. Then hit letter...

Re: Live works but installed version doesn't?

Is it too outdated to run Linux Mint 15 with Cinnamon? A friend suggested OpenSuse but everything I've heard is that Mint is the way to go for older systems. Like above suggested to you, try Linux Mint MATE or OpenSuse. Both are excelent choises too. As you system is older and it did not work right...
