Re: Copy to USB devices slow and problematic

By trying from the command line with the same results, it is obvious that the problem does not lie with Nautilus. I have no further suggestions, hope this gets fixed by a system update. I thank you too. At least I learned all the different commands of how to relocate a file ^-^ None of them worked ...

Hi soulrain,

I expect the new kernel (3.2) to be out in April 2012. Most probably the end of April.

I Like your workaround but it does not work for me (Win 7 64bit in a VirtualBox 4.1.8)

Greetz,

Thanks for the info J@n!

Re: Copy to USB devices slow and problematic

Thanks for the reply... When is that next kernel due out? Want to here my relatively ghetto work around? I have a vm winxp64 running on one box, and use drop box so that windows can be used to put files to usb devices. I should have left dual boot with windows on one of my boxes but I so just wanted...

Any iTunes-like Program Work With 6Gen Shuffle?

Been working on this for a few hours and I can not figure out if it is me or if my ipod is just not supported. I have tried Banshee, Amarock and RhythmBox but none seem to recognize my 6th generation ipod shuffle. The weird thing is Banshee did recognize it once! Then never again. Strange huh? Any h...

Re: How Do You Mount A USB Flash Dirve?

Been doing more reading and I guess here is my dilemma:

I can find my usb/ipod devices and I can manually mount them but I want to learn what settings make this automatic.

I also downloaded banshee and amarok and neither see my ipod even after me manually mounting it.

Any suggestions?

Re: How Do You Mount A USB Flash Dirve?

Figured it out: 1. Example 2. Detecting USB hard drive After you plug in your USB device to your USB port, linux will add new block device into /dev/ directory. At this stage you are not able to use this device as the USB filesystem needs to be mouted before you are able to retrieve any data. To fin...

Alienware M15x No Sound

I have an Area-51 M15x 2008 pre-Dell Alienware laptop that I recently installed linux mint 12 on. Here is what I have done so far to try and resolve my speakers not working. (1)For sound, add the line "options snd-hda-intel model=mbp3" in file "/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base" (2) Welcome to the forums. T...

How Do You Mount A USB Flash Dirve?

The icon appears under "Computer" but when I double click it says unable to mount location Not Authorized.

I looked on google and it says to make a folder then mount from the location of the usb device to the location of the folder you made.

I am not sure what folder path to use for my flash drive.
