Another thing to think about is Ubuntu 12.04.2 pulled in the kernel and and other items (x.org, drivers...) from 12.10, whereas I've never seen any kernel updates for my Mint 13 install (which itself is using a very old version of the 3.2 kernel), as they're disabled by default. I run Xubuntu 12.04 on my Netbook, but may be swapping to LMDE XFCE soon. XFCE is my preferred DE, and I hope Linux Mint 13 features an XFCE version (rather than installing generic XFCE) That said, I do like Cinnamon.
