Re: LM12 KDE problem?

I dont wanna defend KDE but MOST of the issues are Distri issues....4.8 runs like a charm and I even have a quite unique setup. I recommend chakra, i would take it myself...unfurtunatly i cant (work). KDE integration just needs love chakra shows this (very small Distri which managed to climb up in D...

Re: Thumbs Up!

@Stennie and all the other KDE "lovers". KDE bashing is absolutly outdated.....KDE is back...check the IRC, check the big releases, check even KDE only releases who grow in popularity.(chakra for example).....I agree with ppl who say that KDE was in its early 4.x releases bad but with 4.7x...

Re: KDE 4.8

Well... one more quiz! using the backports will add a kubuntu session on the login screen beside the plasma workspace or is it updating the actual wokspace and not showing any other session? No...just the KDE files get updated nothing else changes. Their will be no different sessions added to the L...

Re: extreme memory usage?

VMware has a problem i think....when i run KDE im not able to reproduce huge memory use.
When i started VMware i had the same problem kwin in my case used 1.9 GB ram (normal around 30).
So i think VMware is the Problem here....

Re: KDE 4.8

Install 4.8, i absulute recommend it. I was always a critic of the KDE update policy (adding n functions instead of making things work)...the last updates are different and KDE 4.8 focuses on some small things which make the KDE experience just better. Im running 4.8....and it does what i expect...i...

Re: Will KDE survive

Of course KDE will survive, Gnome/Unity choosed a really bad time to suck. KDE was in Version 3 -hands down- the best DE out there...well with 4.0 KDE blew it, they released a pre alpha full of bugs. But when i look now at KDE im very pleased, they got rid of all the bugs and didnt make the usual &q...

Re: KDE 4.8 is Out

Just check it out for urself at http://kde.org/announcements/4.8/.
I updated and with 4.8 KDE makes a step in the right direction (focusing on the really important stuff and not just add more functions).

Re: Too many updates for a fresh release?

I agree with the updates.....even they are KDE updates. The wallpaper thing made me crazy.....(90MB) Im sitting behind a VPN(mainland china) and I when u download 90MB of "garbage" with 80kb/s you wish that these "updates" are on the CD on release. The argument that these are KDE...

Re: Canonical ends Kubuntu support?

I never really understood the "fighting" between the different DEs. I think every big DE had in the past difficult times KDEs difficult time was 4.0 (or as we KDE user call it..Armageddon) Now with 4.8 KDE is finally there where it was in Version 3. And slowly the users come back to KDE. G...
