Re: Connecting to a network drive with smb protocol
In dmesg I got this message : No dialect specified on mount. Default has changed to a more secure dialect, SMB2.1 or later (e.g. SMB3), from CIFS (SMB1). To use the less secure SMB1 dialect to access old servers which do not support SMB3 (or SMB2.1) specify vers=1.0 on mount. So I added "vers=1...

Re: Connecting to a network drive with smb protocol
After adding those two lines you mentioned in #1 "Public" was listed and after clicking it the error message changed to ["" is not a folder], so I wasn't able to browse the content of "Public". After adding a subfolder-name of "Public" like "Public/backup...

[SOLVED] Connecting to a network drive with smb protocol
I have a network drive which I could connect to from LM19.3 easily via Nemo's address bar : smb://192.168.1.20 Then it asked me for credentials, but since guest logon is active I simply pressed "connect" (without entering any credentials) and could see all the files on the drive. (I still ...

Linux Mint 20 and Radio Tray
I installed LM20. It's great and all, but I couldn't find the app "Radio Tray". It's a great and simple internet radio app that sits in the system tray, very convenient to use. Is it removed? Any chance of it being re-added to the repository? Edit: https://community.linuxmint.com/software/...

Re: Nemo: Filter by size ?
That's interesting; I've been using LM since v15 and never noticed that filtering by size isn't possible. I just looked into some distros and software; - LM18 had a "by type" feature (there was a "+" button next to the search box) - Nautilus still has that feature (I know, Nemo i...

Nemo: Filter by size ?
I'm on LM 19.3, Nemo 4.4.2.
Search options don't appear. Is this a bug ? If not, how can I list all files on the hard drive with a size <500mb in Nemo?

Bluetooth icon still blue
After upgrading from 19.2 to 19.3 the Bluetooth and Update Manager icons are still colored. Yet I saw a LM19.3 desktop screenshot where it's black and white. Disabled and enabled the XApp Status Applet but the icons are still big and colored. Current (notice the Bluetooth icon is bigger): https://i....

Re: [Solved] VLC could not decode the format "h264"
Some extra info; I tried to play a downloaded video from within qBittorrent and the error occured again. I closed Vivaldi. When trying to start the video by double clicking within qBittorrent, VLC started and the error continued to popup. When trying to start the video from within Nemo, VLC (after V...

Re: VLC could not decode the format "h264"
Someone on Reddit wrote : If any Chromium based app is open at the same time when you open VLC , it does that. I personally observed that , with Opera and Discord app. It is a general Linux problem happening with those and probably related how ffmpeg works. So I had Vivaldi open whenever the error o...

Re: VLC could not decode the format "h264"
I also have no issue with VLC. I uninstalled-installed "Media Codecs" and VLC from Software Manger an hour ago, but with no change. A log-off / log-on fixed it.. fow now. It's not exactly a "run once" issue either, because I can play many files one after another. It's rather a ra...

Re: VLC could not decode the format "h264"
I did that (without rebooting, only a log-off and log-on with new user) and I could play the file with the new user. Then I logged off again and logged on with my user and could also play the file without error. So I don't have to reboot after all, a log-off - log-on solves the problem it seems. But...

Re: VLC could not decode the format "h264"
Yes, but again, the (vidoe) file is not corrupt at all. It plays totally fine after a reboot. Unless you mean another file or files ?
Also, I use LM for years now, and never had such a problem.
So.. it must be something else..!?

Re: VLC could not decode the format "h264"
I said "any video file" so it's not just a specific one. My best guess is it has something to do with the codecs currently loaded and a reboot loads them properly.. ?? Edit: BTW I have sound when playing the file in VLC, but instead of video I get the error message from the title of this p...

[Solved] VLC could not decode the format "h264"
VLC and Media Player work fine and play any video on my LM 19.2 installation. Recently VLC started to give this error message "VLC could not decode the format 'h264' " when trying to open any video file (h264 encode in this case). When I try to open the same or any other video file with Me...

[SOLVED] Feature Request: In taskbar, enable switching between running app windows via mouse wheel scroll
My feature request is as follows : Scrolling the mouse wheel over the icon of a running program should restore that windows (if it's in the background, otherwise do nothing). Modern Desktop Layout In modern desktop layout, icons in the taskbar are grouped into one icon. Hovering over a (grouped) ico...
