Changing Droid to LMDE2

Is it feasible to change my Samsung Galaxy S 5 Droid to a LMDE2 operating system? If so, is it fairly simple and can a 10 thumbed klutz do it? Tutorial??

Thanks,

Re: Where do my scanned Files Go?

Thanks for the detailed reply, but perhaps you can tell me how to set up a "scanned" file into which all my scanned documents will be placed in my LMDE2? I told you I was not that Linux literate so please keep it really simple. Thanks.

Where do my scanned Files Go?

Moderator, please move this to the appropriate forum if necessary. Assistance, please. I have a HP Envy 700-216 CPU running a dual boot of LMDE2 (Betsy) and Windows 10 on a partitioned 2 Tib HDD. I boot to Windows 10 once a month only for the updates. My Windows partition takes up less than 500 gigs...

Re: Trouble with images

Thank all y'all. I have no earthly idea what I did, but my Firefox works properly now and the images appear as they have previously. My reply has been delayed since I wanted to be sure everything worked and also had to help pull the Panthers past the Saints this afternoon. Plus help my wife with Chr...

Trouble with images

With the recent updates, sometimes my browser (Firefox) will not display images, most notably when I open the Drudge Report. Help, please.

Re: Questions about partitioning

Keyinthefixer, Thanks for the recommendation. I kinda believed that to be the case and have planned on doing it as I still have my LMDE2 (Betsy) 64 bit install disk and have barely started putting files onto it. I had just hoped there would be a really simple fix. I notice you are a recently joined ...

Questions about partitioning

As y'all can tell, I've posted fairly rarely over the last 3 years since I've been a member here. I regard my computer as a tool, like my car. While I have the knowledge to do an engine and tranny rebuild (and have done it), I prefer to let someone who knows exactly what he is doing do it. I enjoy m...

Re: Two simple questions

Exploder, Thank you for your reply. As I have always used a separate Partition Manager to set up my partitions prior to a LMDE install, where did you get the calculator to determine the size of the partitions?? [/size] I've used 1 to 2x the RAM for the swap, and when I did use a \, guessed at around...

Two simple questions

I am planning to wipe my HDD and reinstall my Linux OS. Everything is backed up on an external HDD. I have a 64 bit HP computer about a year old with a large 1 terrabite HDD and high RAM and a quad-cor AMD processor. HOW SHOULD I PARTITION MY HDD?? And where would I put my program if I add a 3rd par...

Re: Questions Re: Rebecca, etc

Thanks all. Your notes saved me from a futile attempt to install Rebecca on this old beastie. It is for him to see the advantages of Linux. But I thought if a computer could run Windows XP, it surely could run Linux Mint 17. I read about VecorLinux and am downloading it now. Will burn to a cd and se...

Questions Re: Rebecca, etc

I have a friend who has two older computers and is interested in a dual boot with a Linux Mint distro. I have an ancient IBM Thinkpad which I am trying to install Rebecca on beside Windows XP. It has the extra space on the "massive" 20 Gig HDD, but can it accept Linux Mint 17 ? It has a 1.1 GHz Inte...

Re: Noobie partition question

Thank all y'all for the replies to my post. At least I have some foggy concept of how much space to use for these partitions. Once I get the data transferred out of the Windows OS, then we can delete the Windows partition and expand the rest.

Re: Noobie partition question

Goldfinger. I guess I need to be specific since I am not that computer literate. I found out that one of my friend's computers has 1 Gig of RAM and an80 gig HDD. There is about 40 Gigs of HDD space unused where I would install Rebecca. I currently would make my swap 1 Gig, but how much of the remain...

Re: Noobie partition question

Thanks for the information and advice. Since I may be installing Rebecca on two of my friend's computers, could you please give me the info re: percentage of available HDD space for the 3 partitions also. My knowledge of these computers' HDD's and available space is currently nhil as we have not cle...

Noobie partition question

Howdy, Would really appreciate some help regarding partition size since it has been so long since I've installed a Mint distro. I have a friend with an 8 year old computer and plan to install Rebecca Mate 32 bit on it. I know the swap partition should be at 50 - 100% the size of the RAM, but what ar...

On-line Banking with LMDE

Is anyone using LMDE for on-line banking? I've found that most banks, credit Unions, etc seem to only work with a Windows IE browser. If anyone is using LMDE for on-line financial servicies, how do you do it.
Thanks

Quick Question Re: flash Drive

This may be a dumb question, but here goes: If I download the LMDE iso to a flash drive (stick) is it bootable? Or do I need to do something else to it to make it so?

Weird Question

I'm just curious as to how the LMDE updates are numbered. 7 upgraded me from .2 to .10, exactly backwards from the way I learned decimals in school. Why are these upgrades labeled this way?
Thanks,
