Re: How do I modify or create my own Icon Theme?

ok, so I chose to overwrite certain icons which I placed inside ~/.icons/Moka . One application which I overrode the icon for is Okular. When I open up Okular, the icon displayed in the panel is the correct one. However, if I double-click on a pdf file, the old Okular icon (the one which comes with ...

How do I modify or create my own Icon Theme?

Linux Mint 19.1 (64-bit) Cinnamon 4.0.9 I like different icons from different themes. I was wondering what the correct way to make my own theme (just for my own personal desktop) is? I really like the Moka theme. However, there are some icons in this theme which I would like to change. For example, ...

Swapping out individual icons between different icon themes

I noticed Mint 19 has a new theme - Mint-Y. Previously, I used the Moka theme. And I still prefer Moka but I wanted to keep the Software Manager icon that comes with this new Mint-Y theme. This is also the same icon used for .deb files. For Mint-Y the software manager icon is located in /usr/share/i...

Re: Mint 18.2, Cinnamon, NVIDIA Quadro M1200, nvidia-375 driver, nomodeset

Finally figured this out. I've spent the last year trying to install either Ubuntu Cinnamon or Linux Mint with Cinnamon. I've tried and returned close to a dozen laptops. The only laptop that worked was a System76 with a GTX1060. But I didn't need a gaming laptop plus it was eating way too much of m...

Re: Mint 18.2, Cinnamon, NVIDIA Quadro M1200, nvidia-375 driver, nomodeset

This is not a problem with Dell or Nvidia because Ubuntu with Cinnamon works just fine. This seems to be a problem with Mint and Cinnamon. Although my previous laptop was a System76 with a GTX 1060 card and that worked without a problem.

Re: Mint 18.2, Cinnamon, NVIDIA Quadro M1200, nvidia-375 driver, nomodeset

So looks like the Quadro M1200 support starts with nvidia-378. So I installed the latest driver, nivida-384. I edited /etc/default/grub and altered the following line: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash nomodeset" After reboot, I see a desktop, however, it says Cinnamon has crashed and it's us...

Mint 18.2, Cinnamon, NVIDIA Quadro M1200, nvidia-375 driver, nomodeset

I just got the Dell Precision 7520 which comes with Ubuntu 16.04 and the NVIDIA Quadro M1200 GPU. I installed Mint 18.2 and then the nvidia-375 apt package. After reboot, I hear the Mint jingle and the screen is blank. From my research this seems to have something to do with 'nomodeset'. However, du...

Shift + Left in bash

I just installed Mint 18.2. I'm not sure if I just never noticed this but normally Shift + Left highlights the character before the cursor. But now I'm seeing that inside bash Terminal Shift + Left prints the character 'D'. Can this be fixed? I mean it works in all applications except for Terminal...

Re: Change language input in 17.3

What you're talking about changes the language of the entire Operating System. I want it to be in English, I just want to be able to input Polish characters as I type. There used to be a little applet in previous versions of Mint of a flag of the country you were using for language input.

Re: Change language input in 17.3

All I have is System Settings -> Input Method and System Settings -> Languages. I installed Polish for the Language in Languages. Under Input Method I have a drop down and all it says is "None".

where is the Start Menu gear icon

I like the Start Menu icon that I get with Mint 17.1. It's that gear icon. But after I install my Nvidia drivers the icon is changed to the Linux Mint logo (the one with the L and M). Was wondering if anyone knows what that gear icon is called?

disappearing mouse cursor

I just got an Acer Aspire V 15 Nitro with an Nvidia 840M card. When I move my mouse to the top of the screen it disappears and then I don't know where it is because it still moves while invisible.
