Re: No sound with .webM videos from Youtube

The Youtube video played fine for me, but then I have Youtube set to deliver HTML5 video whenever possible. I downloaded the test file, and Videos would play the video, but there was no sound. I tried dragging and dropping the video to Firefox, and it plays just fine, with sound. Yes, the video wil...

Re: No sound with .webM videos from Youtube

Test file resulted in MoviePlayer looking for an unknown codec, which it didn't find, searchoing in synaptic shows that I've got all Opus related non dev files installed, but still no audio in either the test video or the Youtube videos.

No sound with .webM videos from Youtube

It seems that they are encoded i the VP9 codec, I've got GStreamer 1.0+ and VLC 2.2.0+ installed with all the supporting packages and still I only get video, no audio. I tried adding this PPA https://launchpad.net/~mc3man/+archive/ ... sty-media/ and still no joy.

Re: KBN-I/2100 AMD Kabini board and G3D drivers

Eh, I'll just purge and switch to Edgers, I used it for a year on Mint13 with the Nouveau drivers and not once did it ever break anything even with the weekly kernel and driver updates.

These days the kernel only seems flaky on non x86 hardware. It's not like Kabini is a custom MIPS architecture.

Yeah, but then you have to keep manually updating it if you want to stay current. The point of the PPA is that it's tied into Apt/Synaptic.

Re: KBN-I/2100 AMD Kabini board and G3D drivers

Ah, I see, Oibaf apparently doesn't include updated kernels as well like xorg-edgers did, so what PPA would be compatible with Oibaf? Or is there an all included PPA that I should purge Oibaf for?

KBN-I/2100 AMD Kabini board and G3D drivers

So I'm running Mint 16 w/ the Oibaf PPA, wanting to get a fully working UVD, VCE and 3D going, but currently UVD isn't working, haven't tried VCE or 3D yet though.

What settings do I need to change and where are they?

Re: jumping ATI ship, swimming over to Nvidia?

I'm not a fanboy, but over the years I've most often found myself purchasing ATI graphics cards, for whatever various reason at the time. But now, as I enjoy my newfound freedom from Windows, I'm looking to fortify that decision as I move forward. Given my difficulties with getting my Radeon HD 485...

Mate 1.6 on LM13 32 bit?

When if ever will this be backported? I tried adding it via the instruction on the Mate site, but it never listed all of the required packages.

Re: Upcoming Linux Mint Olivia, Please, NON-PAE version

Then, apologies if I am insisting and highlighting that issue again, is there any opportunity to add a bit of more time, one task more to connect with Ubuntu Team and maybe bot Mint and Ubuntu could come up with a solution, you never know. The 32bit i686-pae only kernel for Ubuntu 12.10 and newer w...

Re: New branded Linux Mint mini computer

Well as it currently is it is a great low power browser and casual gaming box, the E-450 is fast enough to run most Humble Bundle games and thus most games available natively on Linux, the CPU is a real 64 bit dual core AMD K10.5 running at 1.65Ghz.

Re: Poll: respins of Linux Mint

How about respins focusing on gaming and multimedia editing with updated OSS drivers? Isn't the 3.5 kernel supposed to be out soon with improvements to all of OSS GPU drivers? I'll never understand the XFCE and LXDE guys, they aren't that much lighter and they aren't as feature complete as Gnome2/Ma...

Re: Why is MATE being kept alive?

I see no point in continuing MATE which is based on discontinued Gnome 2. Why not use XFCE which is very much alive and similar? http://www.jwz.org/doc/cadt.html Because XFCE, like LXDE is not feature complete and uses nearly as much ram and CPU and Gnome 3 is a steaming pile hacked together by kid...

Re: New branded Linux Mint mini computer

Whats wrong with having an HTPC version? Theres plenty of people that want a small set top HTPC they can throw on the shelf next to the cable box and the playstation that can record, edit and playback the shows they watch. If you want that currently you are looking at a box that will have to be part...

Re: Refresh rate too high with Nouveau LM13 Mate

On advice from #nouveau over on Freenode IRC I've updated my MESA version and Nouveau driver via the Ubuntu Xorg-Edgers PPA, which has made a few games run better, but has not fixed my above issues here, was wondering if I should attempt to try and update the kernel as well from the same PPA, or wou...

Re: New branded Linux Mint mini computer

My only question is will there be an HTPC version? I'd love to see one with a CrystalHD DPS and a TV tuner built in to make the most of the E450 in the MintBox Pro, I wonder if there will be one around the time the Brazos 2.0 refresh is out, the E2-1800 http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Bobcat/AMD-E%20S...
