Re: CCSM settings reset itself on boot

Sounds like the same bug as in this thread:

http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.p ... 2&t=151589

Check out if the solution works for you as well, but read the whole thread first because it has some side-effects.

Re: Compiz - desktop cube resets on logout

Ok, that does sound like the same bug described just a few threads down (compiz config reseting all the time). Did the "solution" in that thread not work?

Re: [solved] Compiz : config reseting all the time

Whoops, sorry about not warning you of this possibly also clearing all settings in the ccsm. It didn't happen to me this time on either of my two machines, but I do remember this happening when I tried the same trick on Mint 15. I guess I thought at least this part of the bug got fixed this time if ...

Re: Compiz : config reseting all the time

Yeah, I had this problem as well. It looks like compiz settings get reset to some default all the time. To clear the problem, open ccsm and just click on "Preferences" or "Advanced Search" (not sure which one was it). This is likely going to crash compiz, but once it gets running again you can put y...

Re: Caja starting slow

It looks like I have the same problem. Caja opens very slowly when started from MATE menu bar or panel shortcut (with about 4 seconds delay). When started from terminal, desktop, another caja window or even mint menu it starts instantly. And once started it works normaly. Strange.

Re: Enable compiz on Mate in Mint 15????

gsettings set org.mate.session.required-components windowmanager compiz Be warned that this version of compiz has some issues, one of which (unclickable window borders on windows that start maximised) is particularly annoying and without a working work-around that I could find. This is quite bad ad...

Re: Compiz has damaged MATE

Are you missing just the buttons or the entire window border (title bar and all)? I don't know what has happened if it's just the buttons, but if the entire window border is missing then it's probably because no window manager is running (maybe the default manager is still set to compiz). Try starti...

Re: Strange behavior while activating compiz

From what I'm reading, yes, this is normal. Is compiz otherwise working correctly? The problem here is that compiz is now running in the terminal (which is why you are not returned to command line) and trying to close the terminal will kill it. Try adding ampersand at the end of the command to make ...

Re: Window Decoration doesn't display windows when starti Co

I think I had a similar problem - compiz wouldn't remember any changes I made in ccsm. It fixed itself whey I tried to click on the Preferences option in ccsm. Well, kind of. Actually it crashed and cleared all options in the ccsm. But after that I could turn what I wanted back on and this time it r...

Re: Enable compiz on Mate in Mint 15????

I don't know CompizConfig is installed successfully, but the functions are not working still.. It is disaster for me.. If it's not working I want to install Ubuntu 13.04. It works perfect on it. Can you give more details on what is wrong? What happens when you try compiz --replace &? What functions...

Re: Enable compiz on Mate in Mint 15????

alexisg's instructions are correct. Fusion icon doesn't work, but it is not needed. Just install compiz /plugins / ccsm, test if compiz works: compiz --replace & and if yes, set compiz as default window manager with: gsettings set org.mate.session.required-components windowmanager compiz Be warned t...

Re: Compiz window borders?

Compiz has the same problem with MATE. Maybe the solution is the same? You can find it in Compiz, Conky, Docks, & Widgets part of the forums, and it involves installing and using gconf-editor (or is it dconf-editor now?) to change the entry for the window border theme.

Re: Moving windows non-destructively between workspaces

Thanks Jungle_boy, but the problem is in the Workspace management, not in GIMP (I used GIMP as an example only). I used to be able to open any program (OOo word or spreadsheet, Inkscape, …) “push” it to the edge, in the Panel I could see it crossing between Workspaces, switch to the other Workspace...

Re: Nadia Mate 64bits and the compiz effects

I had the same problem and have fixed it, I'm just not completely sure how. Is the window decoration plugin enabled in ccsm? Because by default it wasn't for me. I have also installed a few more compiz packages, so that might have done it. Sorry I can't be of much help.

Re: Compiz problem no border windows mint 13 mate

Meh, I wouldn't be worried too much about error messages if compiz is now working the way it is supposed to (or close to it). Do you have all the functionality you need? Is it stable? If yes, you can then set it up to start automatically and fix that conflict with marco that causes high cpu usage.

Re: Compiz problem no border windows mint 13 mate

I think you are missing the "&" at the end of your command to make compiz independent of the terminal window. Without it it will run in the terminal window and it will terminate when you exit the terminal, just like any other program. So try "compiz --replace &". If everything works fine after that,...

Re: Have you upgraded to Mate 1.4? Have you had any problem

It works exactly the same for me. You still need to change marco to compiz and actually start compiz. Also, window borders settings are still not applied correctly. Apart from that the only problem is that randomly at startup some items on the panels are disabled, but killing mate-panel restore them...

I'm sorry to hear that. To be completely honest, I did have 2 lock-ups since I posted here last (and none lately). So it's possible that newer kernel didn't completely fix the issue, just made it much, much rarer. Unfortunately, I can't really offer to you any help for your problem. Is it possible i...

Re: MATE 1.4 is imminent!

Yeah, I figured it out. I forgot to set the repo in /etc/apt/preferences. Thanks Monsta - your post made me realize that.

Really, the fact that only those packages I didn't already have installed were visible should have clued me in.
