Linux Kernel Headers for development - Why so many updates?

For the last few weeks it seems like we've been getting a lot of updates for "Linux Kernel Headers for development". It's beginning to make me wonder if recent updates have been very buggy or problematic. I know they are marked as type "!" for security updates so it's a good idea...

Re: Rebecca 17.1 Rabbit VCS support?

The problem appears to be: 1) After installing RabbitVCS the .config/rabittvcs folder is in a read-only state for all but you so the application and it's dependencies are not able to have proper access to the folder and it's contents. 2) With 17 and 17.1, subversion has been upgraded to version 1.8....

Re: <SOLVED> nVidia drivers destroy plymouth and boot splash

Should this still work for Linux Mint 17.1 Cinnamon? Because I've followed the instructions exactly and still get the 4 green dots instead of the pretty LM logo. Edit: I had to add this line to my grub file: GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=keep I put it right after this line: GRUB_GFXMODE=1920x1080 This worke...

Re: Greeter application appears to be crashing

Thanks Clem. Your fix to upgrade libwebkitgtk did the trick.

I ran these three commands from my terminal window, as specified, and restarted:

- sudo apt-add-repository ppa:gnome3-team/gnome3
- apt update
- apt install libwebkitgtk-1.0-0 --no-install-recommends

Thanks again,
Roger

Re: Missing "Root Action" on drop down menu

I know the feature you are talking about. I'm on Linux Mint 14 KDE. The "root actions" option on right-clicking a folder or file is really handy. I'm pretty sure it's KDE specific. See if these two links are helpful: http://www.kubuntuforums.net/archive/index.php/t-57880.html http://kde-ap...

Re: Linux Mint 13 Cinnamon no longer connects to the Interne

dnsmasq usage is causing network connection definitions to be ignored for DNS Servers and Search Domains. This issue is in all the Mint 13 releases from what I have seen. I suspect it's an upstream issue from Ubuntu. Here’s a fix: http://lincgeek.org/blog/?p=1529 The script at this link will create ...

Re: Maya KDE Edition approved for RC release

Working really well from a flash drive. Haven't found any problems yet. Looks like I'll be upgrading to Mint 13 KDE in a few days. I really like all the Minty features and configuration that the Mint folks add. Really polishes up their distributions. Mint distros are definitely the way to go. I've d...

For all the KDE fans out there, you'll be glad to know that a recent poll, taken by LinuxQuestions.org, shows that KDE is the most popular desktop with 33% of the vote. GNOME came in second with 19.14%. Here's the link: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/2011-linuxquestions-org-members-choice-a...

Here's an idea of the time-line for the KDE release:

No date given, of course, but at least an estimate. :D
